Chapter 7. Setting a Course
At breakfast the next morning, while his dad read the newspaper and his mom studied a report for work, Sam told them about his adventure the night before. Without taking his eyes off the newspaper, his dad mumbled, “Finish your breakfast or you’ll be late for school.”
At recess, Sam tried to tell his classmate Howard that his new dog could fly and talk. Howard shook his head and said, “Yeah, right. When I see him fly and talk, I’ll believe it.” Howard ambled off to play on the monkey bars.
That night Sam asked his new friends, “Could I bring you guys to show-and-tell? My friend Howard doesn’t believe I have a flying talking dog.”
