Final Episode: Last
Mia and Jack had escaped to a secluded spot, a hidden haven where they could enjoy each other's company without the world intruding. They spread out a blanket, and the picnic basket was open, the smell of fresh bread and cheese wafting through the air.
Just as they were settling in, a figure emerged from the trees. Vanessa, a gun in her hand, a twisted smile on her face.
"Looks like I'm just in time for the party," she said, her voice dripping with malice.
Mia's instincts kicked in, but before she could react, Vanessa raised the gun and fired. The bullet hit Jack in the chest, and he stumbled back, a look of shock on his face.
Mia screamed, her world crumbling around her. Vanessa laughed, a cold, calculating sound. "Let's play a game, Mia. You and me, one on one."
The words were barely out of her mouth when she fired again, the last bullet entering Jack's head. He slumped to the ground, his eyes staring up at the sky.
Mia's anger boiled over. She launched herself at Vanessa, fury blinding her. "You killed him!" she screamed, her fists flying at Vanessa.
Vanessa laughed, enjoying the game. But Miya was beyond reason. She grabbed a gun from under the stove and fired, hitting Vanessa with two quick shots.
Vanessa stumbled back, her eyes widening in surprise. Miya stood over her, the gun still smoking in her hand.
"You killed my friend, and my love," Miya spat, her voice dripping with venom.
The anger and pain overwhelmed her, and she fired again, and again, and again. Twenty-five shots, each one a scream of rage and pain.
When it was over, Vanessa lay still, her body riddled with bullets. Miya dropped to her knees, the gun falling from her hand.
"Why?" she whispered, her voice broken. "Why me?"
She lay down beside Jack's body, her tears falling onto his face. The world around her was silent, the only sound her own ragged breathing.
The journey was over. The game was done. 😔
Mia's world went dark, her grief and anger consuming her. She knew she'd never be the same again, that a part of her had died with Jack.
As the sun set on the hidden haven, Miya's body was still, her eyes fixed on the sky. The pain would linger, a constant reminder of what she'd lost.
The story ended here, with two people gone, and a woman left to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart.
