Chapter Five
Rafe
“Rafe! Baby, wake up! Wake up!” Raven calls my name, shaking my arm, and I flap about myself as if I am fighting with giants. My eyes pop open, and I sit up in the bed. I hope I didn’t give her a left hook while flailing with my hands unconsciously.
I desperately turn my head from side to side, barely awake.
“Everything’s okay. It was a dream. It must have been a bad dream. Calm down,” she kneels down beside me, trying to look into my eyes.
I slowly focus on her, and my chest is heaving like a stormy sea. She takes my face between her hands, and begins to stroke it gently. She keeps repeating my name, and that everything’s fine. I also reach out to her, but only carefully, as if trying to touch a ghost. When my finger meets her skin, I loudly moan, get up on my knees
