I ignored him, the words tumbling out before I could stop them. “I’m tired, Nathan. Tired of pretending, tired of smiling, tired of this whole damn charade. I don’t even know who I am anymore.” He glanced at me, his eyes cold. “You’re my wife. That’s who you are.” “No,” I said quietly, shaking my head. “Not anymore. I think I want to move out of the house.” The car swerved slightly as Nathan turned to face me, his expression filled with disbelief. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?” “It means I’m done,” I said, my voice steady. “I’m done pretending. I’m done with this marriage. I’m done with you.” “Vivian,” he said, his tone warning. “You don’t mean that.” “Stop the car.” “What?” “I said, stop the car.” Nathan didn’t move, his knuckles tight as he gripped the steering wheel.
