Chapter Five: KissThey have tea, but he doesn't leave. The silence, unlike their usual companionable comfort, is stiffening. She feels as though something is building up, something important, but she can't put her finger to what it is. She thinks- hopes, he's finally going to kiss her today. She's been waiting so long for their first kiss.
She thought that was the perfect opening, earlier, when she confessed to being a virgin, to never having done anything... sexy before.
He doesn't seem to have anything in mind today either, pressing a chaste kiss on her forehead that she barely feels with a whispered, "Happy Birthday, baby," before pulling back and heading for the door.
"Wait!" she cries out before her mouth catches up with her brain.
