TTOL - Chapter 02

IRINA POV

I can't believe what I see now. The person I thought I would never see again is now in front of me. I don't know how long I stared at him but I couldn't take my eyes off him. As I looked into his eyes, I still saw the anger and sadness that I also saw five years ago.

Dylan was hit the second Sandra poured me a drink because he blocked it with his back.

"Mr. Easton? Why?" Sandra asked.

It was only then when I came back to my senses I by what happened when Sandra spoke and I also heard more and more whispers from the people around. I didn't think twice and left the place.

"Why do we have to meet in such a situation?" I asked myself as I went down the stairs.

"Is he still mad at me? Hasn't his hatred for me lessened in the past five years?"

I hope our paths never cross again. A lot has happened in the past five years and I don't want this to be the cause of new chaos in my life and my son's. I hope he has forgotten everything that happened.

"What do you mean?" I asked him when I recovered from the surprise.

"Are you really like that with all men? Aren't you ashamed?"

I still feel his anger towards me. We can't just forget what happened.

"Are you flirting with every guy you see. Is that how you got your position at Uprise Tech Company?"

Because of what he said, I couldn't stop myself and slapped him.

"You don't know me so don't judge me. And you don't know what really happened so don't be wise." I don't know the person I'm facing now. This is not the Dylan I knew five years ago.

"You're right. I don't even know you, that's why you fooled me before, right?" I just shook my head at what he was saying.

"Did you regret what you did or were you happy that you cheated and hurt me?" I feel pain and anger in every word he says.

"Do you think what I did was easy for me? I was there by your side while you were unconscious. Even though I know that you will throw me away when you open your eyes. I know that when you wake up, I will be the one last person you want to see. But I can't leave you at that time. At the time when you need someone to be with. I can't just leave you because .. because I love you." I turned my back on him because I knew that at any moment I was going to cry.

Did he think what happened was easy for me? When I see him struggling, the pain I feel is twice as much as what he feels.

"What do you mean?" he asked me in surprise.

I wouldn't be surprised that he didn't know that I was by his side during those times because before he even saw me, I left that hospital. I can't bear to see him suffer again because of me.

"It doesn't matter what it is. Let's just forget each other because that's what we should do."

It's useless if he even knows what happened. It's better that he doesn't know so we don't hurt each other anymore.

I was ready to leave him in that place. When he said something else that made me stop.

"Did you really plan to lie to me? Did you really want me to believe you were Selene so that I would like you?"

Because of what he said, I couldn't stop my tears from falling.

"Do you really think of me like that? I've planned to tell you many times but I'm afraid something bad will happen to you." I explained even though I know it's unnecessary because he won't believe it.

"By the way, I told you that I'm not Selene but you didn't believe me. And yes, I'll admit that I did not plan to tell you again because I didn't want to lose you. I don't want you to throw me away because I love you so much." my tears continue to fall.

I don't know what I was thinking and I approached him, maybe because I was drunk.

"Dylan, I know I lied to you. But the things I showed you when we were together were all true. I really loved you Dylan. It's true I... Lovvve you..."

I completely lost consciousness.

DYLAN POV

This is the first time that Quest Web Developers will attend this kind of event here in the Philippines.

Just yesterday I returned to this country again after five years. Not much has changed. I never thought the time would come when I would have to come back here again.

My assistant Mark is now with me in this event. He is also my personal driver.

When we at the venue I decided to go first because Mark had to park the car.

As I entered the venue, I was greeted by a woman who was not familiar to me.

"Good evening Mr. Easton." she greeted me.

"I'm Sandra from AZ Technology Inc. We're so glad you came tonight Mr. Easton." she added while walking beside me.

"As far as I know your company is not the host of this event Ms. Sandra, correct me if I'm wrong."

She didn't say anything so I knew I was right.

"So you don't need to accompany me because I know the way. Thank you very much." I told him at the same time I was leaving him.

I know she has a different purpose for me.

I entered the elevator first because it looked like the woman is not going with me.

What I hate the most is being pretentious because I remember what happened before.

When I entered the venue, people didn't notice me because I went to a dark part of the room. I want to observe first so that I know who is here at this event.

And to my surprise I saw the woman I thought I would never see again. The person who cheated on me.

I watched her as people surrounded her. The big change was obvious to her. She became more mature and more beautiful.

I also saw how she said goodbye to leave that group. She is now heading towards the front which is closer to where I am now.

He approached a man who was sitting in front.

"Is that Mr. Andrew of AZ Technology Inc?" I asked myself when I recognized the man in front.

I can see how they talk. Even though I couldn't hear what they were talking about from my seat, it was obvious from their faces that they no longer understood each other.

Irina seems to be leaving at any moment. But when the man spoke, the woman faced him again.

Little by little, Irina came closer to the man and what made me shocked was to saw her sitting on the man's lap. And she went near to the man's ear to whisper something.

I don't know why my chest hurts. I looked at my watch that monitored my heart beat and it was normal. I just ignored it.

Everyone was whispering what the two in front were doing. I heard that Elena, Andrew's wife is also here at this event.

I was about to leave when the woman who met me earlier came suddenly. And was about to pour a drink to Irina when she turned her back from the girl.

I couldn't stop myself anymore and I found that I made myself as a shield so that the drink will be poured on my back instead on Irina.

The shock of seeing me was obvious on Irina's face.

When Irina recovered from being shocked, she immediately left and I followed her.

I want to know if this is what she really wants to do. To flirt and cheat people.

But everything she told me surprised me. I don't know but all the anger that I had accumulated for five years slowly disappeared.

She fainted after saying all that. While I was holding her, someone came who I thought was her friend.

"I think she's drunk. You'll take care of her." I just said to the woman because I still haven't recovered from the surprise of everything she said.

"Ahh, okay. Thank you Mr. Easton." she answered and took her friend away.

Is everything she said true?

I don't know if I should trust her with all her lies.

"Mr. Easton. You're just here. I've been looking for you for a while. Are you okay?" Mark said still rushing.

"Let's go home. Get the car." I just told him and walked first.
