TTOL - Chapter 04

"Dylan Easton, that is the name of the new CEO of Quest Web Developers. Why? Do you know him by any chance?"

Oh God! What a coincidence. Why is this happening?

I spaced out for a couple of minutes.

How can I face him again? How can he be the new CEO of Quest Web Developers? I s that the reason why I saw him at the event last night? Is he there to represent their company?

Maybe I can ask Coreen if she can attend the meeting instead. She is the director of the company and I am sure she can do it without me. I'll just think of a reason for that.

"Irina? Hey!" she is calling me while snapping her fingers in front of me.

"Irina! Are you okay?" she is calling me for the nth time

"What? Are you saying something? Sorry I was just thinking of something." I hope she will agree with it.

"Maybe you are too tired. Just take a rest for a while. I will just come back after an hour to discuss something about the project, alright? Give yourself a break. Don't strain yourself to much." She said to me before leaving my office.

I need to come up for an acceptable reason for Coreen to believe me. I know she will keep asking why, so I need to prepare for it.

Since I can not rest after hearing that news from her, I used the time she gave me to think of a good reason. But almost half of an hour has past I still can't come up with a good reason that she will surely believe.

"Oh God. Why do wee need to meet again?" I said giving up.

After an hour, Coreen did not came back because she needs to attend a meeting with another client. We decided to cancel our meeting for the reason that the person she is going to meet is a VIP client. And I think it is also a good thing because I still can not come up with a believable excuse for me not to attend the appointment our company had with Dylan.

I decided to continue working with the game we are making. I also had a meeting with my team to discuss something about the project as well as getting their suggestions and opinions with the game we are making.

I was working on enhancing the game features when Kate came in my office. She is the other Director of Uprise Tech Company but she is handling the team B while Coreen is in Team A.

"Ms. Sanchez, how is the party last night? Did you enjoy? Oh well, I think you really did enjoyed it. You even had a fun night with Mr. Andrew of AZ Technology Inc. Take note you even sit on his lap while enjoying your drinks." She said as soon as she entered the room.

" By the way, I watched it online. You are quite famous right now. I can't believe it. You are awesome." she added more

"What do you want Kate? I am not in a mood to have a useless conversation with you."

"Oh, how disappointing. I have a lot of things that I want to tell you. But let's just make it short, you just only did something that the company never expect that you can do." she said to me while eyeing me. "You really never failed to amaze me, Ms. Sanchez" the last word she said before leaving the room.

If I had a bad day earlier. It was even worst because of that girl. Maybe ruining my day is really his hobby. I just hope she is happy. Because honestly, I am totally pissed of her.

Since I started working here at Uprise Tech Company, she always made me feel like I do not belong here. It is nice that I met and became friends with Coreen. She was the one who helped me and said that I just need to show that I deserve the position I have and I'm sure many people will support me.

During those times, my situation was very difficult. I was already pregnant with Dylon and needed to work for both of us. I also need to save for upcoming delivery. I was just very lucky that I have met Coreen and Logan because they helped me for everything that I need. I am so grateful for the both of them.

People like Kate will never be my downfall. I don't care what they think of me. The most important thing right now is that my son will undergo for an operation. Because I can't handle it if he leaves me too.

I got a text message from Logan and he tells me that the doctor we have been waiting for to conduct the operation of Dylon had arrive. And he also told me that the operation is scheduled the day after tomorrow.

After finishing all my works, I immediately went to the hospital. I want to talk personally to Logan about the operation.

During our talk, Logan told me that I do not need to worry about Dylon because nothing bad will happen to him. And the doctor who is going to operate Dylon is an excellent doctor. He keeps.me telling that better will be alright. But I can't help not to worry. All I want right now is the operation to be successful and Dylon to live a good life after this. I promise to be the best mother I can be.

After Logan and I talked, I went back to Dylon's room. I caught him awake and it looked like he was really waiting for me.

"Hey, big boy. Why are you still awake. You need to sleep already. It's eight in the evening." I caressed his hair so he can sleep.

"Irina, why did you come here just now? Do you have a lot of work? You must be tired. Go to sleep first. Okay?" I just smiled because of my son's cuteness. I am very lucky to have him.

He calls me Irina when he is sulking or angry with me. But I find it cute. He always made me feel like I do not need another man in my life because he is enough. And that's exactly what I feel. Just him in my life is enough.

"Sorry baby, Mommy fixed something at the office. But I'm here. It's Dylon time now." I know he's sulking at me because I just came here to the hospital to visit him.

"By the way baby, I have something to tell you. Didn't your Uncle Logan say, in order for you to get well and for you to go home, you have to have surgery? Right?" We have been honest with him about his situation. But instead of giving up, he makes it as his motivation to keep fighting. And he is always vocal with me his reason and that is he do not want me to be alone. And remembering that, always makes me emotional.

"Your operation is scheduled the day after tomorrow. Is that okay?" I ask him because I want him to be ready and he also keeps waiting for this to happen. He always ask me when can he go home.

"Alright Mommy. Don't worry after this operation I will be a strong boy so that I can protect you. I love you mommy." he hugged me tightly.

"I love you so much baby." I said before my tears fall down. I cry silently because he do not want to see me crying because of his situation. He always tells me that he will be fine and he will protect me.

Despite of those bad things that happened to me, I am still thankful that I have this little boy with me. I promise to do everything for you my baby. I love you so much.
