CHAPTER 12/ INTO THE ABYSS

I groggily opened my eyes to find Kael's concerned face hovering over me. My head felt like it was splitting apart, and my mind was foggy. I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my skull, making me wince. Kael gently pushed me back down, his hand on my shoulder.

"Gentle lily, Don't push yourself too hard" he said softly.

I struggled to remember what happened, but my memories were hazy. All I could recall was the feeling of blood covering my face and clothes. I looked down at myself, expecting to see injuries, but there were none. Confusion set in. I would have died from blood loss alone, but I was alive, and unharmed.

Kael's voice broke through my thoughts. "Lily, what happened? Do you remember anything?"

I shook my head trying to clear the cobwebs, I couldn't remember anything. the last thing I remembered was blood allover, my vision was blur and I didn't know where I was and that was all I remembered.

I gazed up at Kael, my mind racing with questions. "Kael, what...what happened?" I stammered.

He frowned, his eyes filled with concern. "We found you walking towards us, covered in blood. You were in a daze, and you didn't respond when we called out to you."

Kael's expression was grim, but he hesitated before speaking. "You weren't injured, but...there was so much blood. We're not sure what happened."

I felt a cold sweat break out on my forehead as I tried to piece together the events. I couldn't remember anything, but the blood on my clothes seemed to accuse me of something terrible. "What do you think happened, Kael?" I asked, my voice shaking.

Kael's eyes locked onto mine, filled with a mix of concern and uncertainty. "We'll figure it out, Lily. Together"

"Akira's looking into what happened just relax, it'll be all fine" he added with a reassuring smile.

I felt a little relief hearing that Akira was on it but not all that relieved. Did I kill someone? why was there that much blood without me being injured? And how did I get into the forest from the vampire's den? series of thoughts raced through my mind.

"you have to rest lily, it's all going to be fine alright" kael said seeing the look on my face.

I nodded.
