CHAPTER 13/ SILENCE AND SECRETS

Ryoka entered the dimly lit chamber, finding Akira seated at a table surrounded by stacks of books. As she approached, he closed the tomes and gazed up at her, his eyes narrowing. "What do you want, Ryoka?" Ryoka's expression was grave. "We need to talk." Akira's gaze never wavered. "About what?" Ryoka hesitated, choosing her words carefully. "It's about Lily" "She's human, Akira. Fragile and weak. How could she possibly overpower trained warriors like them?" "What are you insinuating?" he asked with a cold look. "You know something about that girl Akira, I know you and I know you would go to any length just to save someone you care for but you're letting your emotions cloud your judgement here" she said. Akira's eyes darkened, his jaw clenched. "You're questioning my judgment?" Ryoka's voice was laced with concern. "I'm questioning your decision to trust a human who's proven to be dangerous. You're risking our lives, Akira. The pack's lives. What if she's a spy or a weapon sent to destroy us?" Akira's face hardened, his eyes flashing with anger. "She's not." Ryoka stood her ground, her voice firm. "Then explain how she could overpower and escape valthrun's warriors. What is going on, Akira? Why are you protecting her?" Akira's gaze remained stubbornly silent, his eyes boring into Ryoka's. The tension between them grew, a heavy silence that refused to be broken. Ryoka's words hung in the air, unanswered and unacknowledged. Ryoka's eyes narrowed, her frustration growing. "You're not going to tell me, are you? You're just going to keep secrets and risk our lives." Akira's expression remained unyielding, his silence a stark contrast to Ryoka's growing anger. Ryoka's voice rose, her words laced with urgency. "Akira, listen to me. I'm trying to protect the pack. I'm trying to protect you. But you're not making it easy." Akira's gaze never wavered, his eyes cold and unyielding. Ryoka's hands clenched into fists, her body tense with frustration. "Fine," she spat. "Keep your secrets. But know this, Akira: I will not stand idly by while you risk our lives. I will do whatever it takes to protect the pack, even if it means going against you." With that, Ryoka turned and stormed out of the chamber, leaving Akira to his secrets and his silence. The tension between them was palpable, a heavy weight that hung in the air like a challenge.
