The air was thick with the smell of fresh blood as we pulled up to Alpha Devan's lands. It looked like a fortress from an old war movie. As we got out of our cars, Dark gave River a look. Without a word, River moved closer to me. I knew what this meant - more big, tough guy nonsense.
I glared at River, and he just grinned, showing all his teeth. "You know how it goes. Gotta do what the big boss says."
