I eventually collapse on the bed after searching for what feels like an eternity. I drag my fingers across my hair as Cai watches me from a distance. He’s placing a reasonable proximity between us, lodged at the very corner of the room beside the door.
He’s relaxed but there’s something in his eyes that shows anxiousness. I would have noticed that if only I was paying attention to him I’m the first place.
With hands tucked inside his pockets, and back pressed against the door, Cai’s lets out a sigh that is soon followed by a mumble. “It’s going to be a long night.”
