The One Who Found Her

681 Words
Darkness. It wrapped around me like a deep ocean—silent, endless. But something… pulled me back. A voice. Low. Calm. Dangerous. “Wake up.” My eyes snapped open. I gasped, sitting upright— Only to freeze. This wasn’t the forest. I was lying on a bed—soft, unfamiliar, surrounded by dim golden light. The air smelled different. Clean. Controlled. Safe. Too safe. “Careful.” The voice again. I turned sharply. And saw him. A man stood near the window, shadows wrapping around his figure like they belonged to him. Tall. Composed. Watching me like I was something… rare. Not weak. Not worthless. Valuable. “W-who are you?” my voice trembled. He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he stepped closer. Each movement slow. Intentional. Power radiated from him— Not like Alpha Kael. Not loud. Not aggressive. This was… quieter. More dangerous. “You survived,” he said finally, studying me. “That alone is impressive.” My chest tightened. Memories crashed back. The rogues. The power. The explosion. “What did you do to me?” I demanded, panic rising. His brow lifted slightly. “I should be asking you that.” Silence filled the room. I stared at him, trying to understand. Trying to feel him. But— Nothing. No bond. No connection. Just… emptiness. “You’re not from my pack,” I said slowly. A faint smile touched his lips. “Smart.” He moved closer still—close enough that I could see his eyes clearly now. Silver. Not golden like Alphas. Not normal. Something else. Something ancient. “Where am I?” I asked. “Somewhere you’re still alive,” he replied simply. Not helpful. Not comforting. But true. I clenched my fists. “I need to go back.” The moment the words left my mouth— His expression changed. Not anger. Not shock. Disappointment. “Back?” he repeated. “To the pack that rejected you?” My throat tightened. “I have nowhere else to go.” A lie. But also the truth. Because no matter how much it hurt… That place was still everything I knew. He studied me for a long moment. Then— “You almost died.” My breath caught. “You released a level of power that should have destroyed your body,” he continued. “And yet… you’re still here.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “Do you understand what that means?” I shook my head slowly. My heart started to race again. Not from fear. From something else. Something unfamiliar. Anticipation. “It means,” he said quietly, “you are not what you think you are.” The room felt smaller. The air heavier. “What am I then?” I whispered. He stepped even closer. Close enough that I couldn’t look away. “That,” he said, voice low, almost intrigued— “Is exactly what I intend to find out.” Miles away… In the northern pack grounds— Something was wrong. Very wrong. Alpha Kael stood frozen in the center of his territory. His chest tight. His wolf restless. Unstable. The bond— The one he rejected— It pulsed violently inside him. Stronger than before. Alive. “How…” he muttered. That wasn’t possible. Rejection should have severed it. Destroyed it. Ended it. But instead— It felt like it was growing. Burning. Calling to him. His eyes darkened. “Find her.” The command echoed through the hall. The warriors froze. “My Alpha?” one asked cautiously. Kael’s voice dropped. Colder. Deadlier. “I don’t care where she went.” A pause. Then— “Bring her back.” Silence. Because everyone understood what that meant. Not mercy. Not forgiveness. Possession. Back in the unknown place— I didn’t know it yet. But the moment I woke up here… Everything had already changed. Because now— Two dangerous men were watching me. One who rejected me. And one who found me. And neither of them… Planned to let me go. to be Continued...
