When the Alpha Came for Her

691 Words
The air changed first. Heavy. Sharp. Dangerous. I felt it before I saw him. Before anyone spoke. Before anything moved. My body reacted instinctively—heart racing, breath uneven, the bond in my chest burning like fire. “He’s here…” I whispered. The man in front of me didn’t ask how I knew. He already understood. His gaze shifted past me—toward the forest. And then— A low, powerful growl echoed through the trees. Not wild. Not uncontrolled. Dominant. Terrifying. Every instinct in my body screamed one name. Kael. The trees rustled violently as a figure stepped out of the shadows. Tall. Imposing. Unmistakable. Alpha Kael His golden eyes locked onto me instantly. And in that moment— Everything else disappeared. The world. The air. Even the man standing beside me. It was just him. And me. And the bond between us— Burning stronger than ever. “You ran.” His voice was low. Controlled. But underneath it… Rage. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t speak. Couldn’t breathe. Because this time— He wasn’t looking at me with disgust. He was looking at me like something that belonged to him. “I told you to leave,” I said, my voice barely steady. A mistake. The moment the words left my mouth— The ground beneath him cracked. Power surged from him like a storm breaking loose. “You don’t give me orders.” The air trembled. My wolf shrank—but something else inside me didn’t. Something stronger. Something that didn’t want to bow. Before I could react— He was in front of me. Too fast. Too close. His hand wrapped around my wrist. Firm. Possessive. The moment he touched me— The bond exploded. A surge of heat shot through my body, stealing the air from my lungs. I gasped— And so did he. For a split second— His grip tightened. Not in anger. In reaction. In something deeper. “What… are you?” he muttered, more to himself than to me. “I should ask you the same thing.” The voice came from behind me. Cold. Sharp. Unimpressed. The man who found me stepped forward. Calm. Unshaken. Standing between me and Kael like he had every right to be there. Kael’s eyes darkened instantly. Danger flashed across his face. “And you are?” Kael asked, voice turning lethal. The man didn’t hesitate. “Someone who doesn’t reject what belongs to him.” Silence. Deadly silence. My heart stopped. Kael’s grip on my wrist tightened painfully. “Careful,” he said slowly. “You’re speaking about my mate.” The words hit harder than the rejection ever did. Mate. Now he says it? After everything? Anger surged through me. I pulled my hand free. “I’m not your mate.” Both men went still. But for very different reasons. Kael’s expression darkened dangerously. The other man… Watched me. Interested. Curious. “Then what are you?” Kael asked. His voice was quieter now. More controlled. More dangerous. Because this wasn’t about pride anymore. This was about something else. Something deeper. I met his gaze. For the first time— Without fear. “I’m the mistake you made.” Silence. Heavy. Tense. And then— Everything exploded. Kael moved first. Fast. Violent. His power surged toward the other man— But it didn’t land. Because it was stopped. Blocked. Like it hit an invisible wall. Kael’s eyes widened slightly. Just for a second. “You…” he muttered. The man in front of me didn’t move. Didn’t react. Didn’t even try. “You shouldn’t have come here, Alpha,” he said calmly. “This isn’t your territory.” Kael stepped forward slowly. Danger rolling off him in waves. “I go wherever my mate is.” The word again. Heavy. Possessive. Unavoidable. My chest tightened. The bond pulsed violently. Stronger. Unstable. Caught between two forces— Two powers— Two men who refused to step back. And for the first time… I realized something terrifying. This wasn’t just about me anymore. This— Was going to turn into war. to be Continued...
