REJECTED

Chapter 4 Everything felt like a dream... It didn't feel real. Penny blinked away the tears swelling in her eyes. The crowd cheers, the noise breaking the haze that she was in and the reality stepped in and f**k, if it didn't sting. “They're so cute together,” a lady said next to where Penny stood as she stared at Kian and Rachel with dreamy eyes. It was a mistake, maybe he'd mistaken Rachel for her. There was no way he'd chose Rachel over her, right? Before she could comprehend what was happening, her legs were taking her towards Kian. He would be able to tell her what was going on. The crowd inevitably parted as she cut her way through, the cheers slowly dwindled until the only thing left was the murmurings and whispers of the crowd. Kian's eyes met hers and she could swear she saw him stiffen for a second before his expression turned stoic, his eyes following her every move. “Kian, how could you?” she whispered, but it turned out her voice was the loudest at that moment. “Who's she?” a voice asked in the crowd and the murmurings grew intensely. Penny pretended not to hear the insults being tossed her way. Harsh and they stung. Kian dusted an invisible flint off his shirt before staring at her, his expression unreadable. "You can stay and be my breeder if you wish" Kian answers indifferently and Rachel rested her head on his shoulder as she gave Penny and overly sugary smile that hide the mockery in them. Penny was fuming by now. "Kian, how can you do this to me?!" She yelled, her heart breaking into a thousand pieces. They'd been okay, he'd made love to her last night and whispered sweet nothings to her. How could he do this now? How could he reject her in front of everyone and even suggests she be his mistress? How the f**k could he? From the side of her eyes, she could see a few guards step forward to get hold of her, not like she cared but they inadvertently stopped and she realized the Luna had signalled them not to. Oh yeah, Kian's mother had never liked her so she wouldn't be surprised if this was the woman's plan, if she wanted her to humiliate herself in front of everyone. And f**k her, if the feeling wasn't mutual. “How can you do this to me?” she asked teary as she hiccuped, but Kian didn't seem moved. Not even a flicker of regret crossed his expression. “After everything we shared... Kian, you promised me,” she added, her voice breaking in between words. Kian's jaws tightened as his eyes blazed and his nose flared. “You're nothing Penny, an Omega. Forget about everything you thought we had... It was fun while it lasted,” he said and another jab of pain went through Penny as she closed her eyes. “I thought you told her to stay home?” she could hear her mother's voice, probably telling her father. They knew, but they hadn't told her. Why was everyone treating her this way, huh? “Kian, why?” Was all she could ask, despite the tons of questions raging in her mind. She had so many questions but all started and ended with a 'why'? “Why? You're asking me why?” Kian's voice bounced off the walls, stunning everyone into silence in the anger in his voice. “Well, here's your answer. You're an Omega, a weak wolf and I can't have my Future Luna being tossed around and unable to do anything for herself!,” he said, his eyes boring into Penny's. “Why? Because you're so f*****g soft at heart and I can't stand you,” he added and the last hope Penny was holding on to, shattered into a thousand pieces. If there was one thing she wanted at that moment was for the ground to open up and swallow her. Embarrassment and shame curled inside of her, making themselves comfortable. The eyes boring into her, were filled with scorn and disgust. It took her a fleet second to realize she wasn't loved around here. Not by her parents and not from the man who was her mate, one whom she thought was madly in love with her. There was absolutely no love lost on her. The thought made her break down, not minding she was causing a show and interrupting the crowning ceremony. “You can't do this to me, I love you for goodness sake,” she cried bitterly, but no one said anything. She was inevitably on her own. She'd pictured a life with Kian in it, how would she move on? How would she be able to pick up the pieces of her heart he'd brutally shattered? She gave him everything, he'd taken her dignity last night, he'd told her he loved her... she'd believed him. She'd stayed alive for him, she'd loved him. Everything, she'd done everything for him and this was how she was repaid. “Settle this matter, Kian and stop acting weak in front of your pack,” Rachel's father said, his voice low so only Kian could hear him but Penny did hear after all. “I know what I'm doing,” Kian gritted out. Penny knew his muscles were tensed even without looking at him. She just couldn't... Looking at him, hurts too much. “You don't!” Rachel's father hissed, looking at the crowd that was confused. “Don't start like this as the Alpha of a pack or else you'd be tramped all over. Reject her and get this over with,” the older man said, and Penny tried bracing herself for the pain that was coming. Kian was already a lost cause and she knew. "I, Kian Nathan alpha of Crescent Moon pack reject you, Penny Lee as my mate." Those words heightened the pain in her heart and she fell on her knees. Her eyes red from crying. “I'm so sorry, this happened. I'll handle this,” her father said and before she could realize what was happening, rough hands dragged her from the ground. “Foolish girl, I told you to stay home,” her father hissed as the crowd parted to let them through. Penny could only whimper. She was weak and tired. She wanted to close her eyes and reopen them to find out everything was all a dream. “Stop sulking. You're such a disgrace,” her father dumped her on the ground roughly and she immediately curled into herself, hiding her face from him and the world. Moments later, it was still silent and she discovered he'd left her and returned to the ceremony. She remained on the ground not attempting to move. A man appeared in her peripheral, as he grabbed her arm. She immediately tried to wiggle out of his grip, but he hit her on the head. "Your parents sold you to me, b***h. You better behave yourself" the man says, as his eyes run over her in a lustful way. Her world tilted on it's axis and she felt her blood rushing to her head. What?
