My head resting against Sterling’s chest I listened to the beating of his heart. The rhythmic sounds were calming to me.

He peered down at me, running his thumb along my swollen cheek.

“Well just from the examination alone I’d say her bones are not broken, but she has severe bruising, which will take a lot longer to heal compared to us, but nothing life threatening”
