Chapter 8

It was only day 3 and I was about to lose my s**t. They have been the worst guests I have ever dealt with. I’m surprised they were able to wipe their own asses. 2 of the men had been playing grab ass with the girls and drinking so much I’m surprised they even woke up to do it all over again. And these girls whined and complained so much that it felt like I was running a daycare and taking care of children. We were all so burned out that we had gone to the Captain. He reminded us of the payout and with that in mind we decided to push through it. We had gotten dinner ready and had just finished delivering the food when a plate had crashed to the floor. Sofia was standing next to it. The Barbie who sat next to the leader of the group began shouting at her to watch out that she should be fired immediately. I could see Sofia trying her best to not become visibly upset. “Sorry about that ma’am. We will get it cleaned up right away and get your food out here promptly. I bent down, helping Sofia pick up the pieces. Bianca swept up the rest, while Aurora moped the floor quickly. “Well at least they are not all useless,” the Barbie snapped waspishly. I had to bite my cheek to refrain from saying anything back. I followed Sofia down to the kitchen who started to tear up once we were out of view from the guests. “Hey, don’t let her get to you,” I placed my arm over her shoulder. “She was the one swinging her arms around, trying to make her boobs pop out of her bikini and she had the nerve to blame me because her man wouldn’t look at her” “I know. Tell you what. I’ll finish dinner and deal with them. Why don’t you do some laundry and tidy up down here” She gave me an appreciative smile as we entered the kitchen. “That bad?” Antonio asked. “They’re not the greatest, but we can manage. Can you whip up another plate of that salmon? One of the Barbies dropped her on the ground” “Of course,” He smiled, quickly plating another salmon, “and if she drops it again, just slap her with it till she thinks it’s new” “Come on. That would be insulting to the fish” We both smirked. I took a deep breath before returning to the dining area. “Here you are,” I went to set the plate down, when she flung her arms up, nearly knocking the plate out of my hand. Luckily I was prepared after hearing what she had done to Sofia. “Jesus. Could all of you stop crowding around me? If you wanted to cop a feel you just had to ask” “Excuse me?” I was confused. “Please. I could see each of you eyeing me with those ‘f**k me’ eyes of yours” “I think there must be some misunderstanding between you and our crew” “Sorry honey, but nobody gets to touch these babies without paying. It’s not like it’s my fault you weren’t blessed with natural beauty like us” I had to bite my tongue till I felt it bleed. Keeping my mind focused on the money. “I’m sorry. We will try to not upset you any further. Will this be all?” “No,” the man sitting next to her said, “another scotch, neat” “Of course sir” I walked to the bar, quickly making his drink. Leaning over the table to set it next to his plate I heard him take a deep breath in. The same chill I had when I first saw him ran down my spine again. “Anything else?” “No. Now if you don’t mind I’d like to eat my meal without feeling eyes on me,” the Barbie waved her hand dismissively. I walked calmly down the stairs, shutting the door to the kitchen behind me before letting out a frustrated growl. “Take it easy there tiger,” Antonio laughed, “come here and try some of the desert I’m making” Antonio and I have worked together for about a year now and he knew the perfect thing to calm me down was sweets. I jumped on the counter as he dipped a spoon into a bowl that looked like it was filled with custard. Taking a large spoonful out he held up to my mouth. Just as I was about to take a bite of the delicious treat, another mouth wrapped around the spoon. “Mateo!” I shouted, slapping him on the chest. “I couldn’t resist. Antonio makes the best desserts” “Stop. You two are making me blush,” Antonio faked embarrassment as he cupped his cheeks and batted his eyelashes. He tossed the spoon into the sink, retrieving another one from the drawer. He had gotten another heaping amount in the spoon and right when Mateo moved to take it, I palmed his face and took the spoonful. It was so mouthwatering. “I would throw Mateo in the ocean with sharks to get the last bite” “That’s a little harsh,” Mateo feigned heartbreak. “Hey, when the food is this good. I’d do anything” “Anything? So if I were to give you my piece of cake tonight would you do me a favor?” “What do you want?” “Sofia is still a bit rattled about the incident and asked me to cover her. I know it’s not my job, but the poor girl was shaking” I didn’t know just how much that barbie’s words had gotten to her. “Could you please take over the last hour? I have an early day because they decided at the last minute that they want to play in the water in the morning,” he clasped his hands together and began to beg, much like Bianca had done. “Fine, but you both owe me,” I said pointedly. “Thank you,” he cupped my face and kissed the small space left between his fingers to my cheek. I definitely owe you” I had a twinge of pain in my heart as I watched him leave. Antonio continued baking. His eyes facing down on his task at hand. “What?” I asked. “Nothing,” he poured some batter in a mold. I glared at him. “You always let him play you like that” “We’re just friends” “I don’t know what type of ex’s you have but I’ve never remained friends with any of mine” I’ve never gone out with anyone besides Mateo. I did sleep with Aster and thought we would be official, but it never got to be more than just that one night. After losing both of my friends and finding someone who I truly cared for and being hurt by him. I still really wanted to be friends with Mateo and so did he. “Well that’s all we’ll ever be. Trust me. I learned my lesson” “Then you’re making more progress than me,” he tossed me a piece of chocolate, “now get back to work. You’re getting in my way” I smiled, hopped off the counter and sat in a booth near the counters to wait for the dessert to finish so I could deliver it. Taking a deep breath I headed back upstairs and was trying to hide my eye roll when I heard a Barbie complaining about how she's lactose intolerant and the chef purposefully put eggs in the salad. Did she really think eggs were dairy? How big of an i***t was she? As quietly as I could I started handing out the dessert. Ignoring the multiple dissatisfied grumbles from these plastic bimbos. The person I served was the one who gave me chills. As I leaned over to set the plate in front of him I distinctly heard him inhale deeply again. I looked at the displeased expression on his face. “Is there something wrong?” “I don’t like that smell,” he said through gritted teeth. “Sorry sir, I can take it away-“ I said leaning over to take the plate when he gripped my wrist. “It’s not the dessert,” he glared at me, “Leave,” he growled, releasing my hand. I pulled it quickly to my chest. He didn’t like the way I smelled? Rushing downstairs I decided to hide out in the laundry room to wait out the last of my shift. I’ve never been bothered by a guests words before, but hearing that he doesn’t like the way I smell. I cleaned daily and knew I didn’t carry a bad odor. So why did this bother me so much?
