We sat on the office floor for some time. Letting Lincoln cry till he had had no more tears to shed. He kept repeating the word “why” over and over. My heart went out to this man.
After we had gotten him off the ground Sterling asked him if he would be safe alone. He nodded. Sterling sent a guard to escort him home and watch over him for the night. Before Lincoln left he turned to me and gave me a soft thank you.
Sterling wrapped his arms around me. I melted into his chest taking in his scent that always put me at ease.
“What happens now?” I murmured against his chest.
“We wait for Dante to recover. Get him and Celeste to talk. See if what they want aligns with each other and go from there?”
