Chapter 3- Making Use of Waste to Distract Zombies

639 Words
Quickly, the group silently moved the tables aside and followed Gu Sha out of the classroom. Gu Sha tightly gripped the dagger. Despite knowing that zombies and some humans might be active during their "sleep," he remained cautious. Gu Sha didn't lead the group to the school store but instead towards the rooftop of the teaching building. He remembered vividly that there were three source beads in this school, and one of them was located on the rooftop. The decision to bring these classmates was intentional. He needed decoys to distract the zombies. "Gu... Gu Sha... where are we going?" someone timidly asked. "Yeah, Gu... Gu ge, where are we heading?" another questioned. Gu Sha responded calmly, "We're going to find supplies." The group fell silent. Suddenly, a student named Xu Wei, the class monitor known for his good grades, spoke up, "This doesn't make sense, Gu Sha. Why would we go to the rooftop to find supplies?" Gu Sha turned to look at Xu Wei. In the past, Xu Wei played a significant role when Gu Sha was ostracized, especially during the incident at the school store. Now, Xu Wei was trying to question Gu Sha's leadership. Gu Sha coldly glanced at Xu Wei and brandished the dagger, "What? Do I need your approval for everything I do?" Xu Wei felt a chill but continued, "Gu Sha, it's not about your dagger. It's a special situation, and we need a leader with a clear head. Give me the dagger, and I'll lead you to find supplies." Gu Sha smirked, aware of Xu Wei's hidden motives. He raised the dagger, saying, "You want this?" Xu Wei, attempting to appear noble, claimed, "I don't want your dagger. In this situation, we need a leader. I can guide you." "Poof!" Suddenly, Gu Sha thrust the dagger into Xu Wei's stomach. "Ah!" Xu Wei screamed, and Gu Sha kicked him away, sending him crashing into several students. In the next moment, Gu Sha swiftly climbed the stairs. He knew the zombies on the rooftop were gathering. He needed them as decoys. "Gu Sha, save me!" "Gu Sha, you scoundrel!" "Gu Sha, why are you harming us..." Those students cursed and pleaded, but Gu Sha, sitting atop the stairs, watched quietly. He didn't forget how they had collaborated against him in the past. "Ah!" "Save me!" "Run..." The students rushed downstairs, but the crowded stairwell caused chaos. Some students were surrounded by zombies, and Xu Wei, lying on the ground, had his intestines dragged away by the undead. Gu Sha sat on the rooftop, observing the scene. He had no intention of playing the savior; these were merely tools for distraction. "Ah!" "Spare me!" "Gu Sha, you damned..." The students' cries faded away as they faced the zombie onslaught. Gu Sha ignored them and turned his attention to a corner of the rooftop where a golden bead lay. It was the source bead he desired. After picking it up, he quickly returned to the rooftop's top. Gu Sha examined the source bead, wiped it off, and tossed it into his mouth. In an instant, a tremendous force erupted, permeating Gu Sha's body and spreading through his veins. In a few seconds, it engulfed his entire body. Gu Sha breathed rapidly, using the controlled breathing techniques from the source art. He focused on preventing the source energy from dissipating, aware that his life depended on it. His consciousness glimpsed a deep red space with several black chains running through it. Gu Sha recognized it as the gene lock. The golden source energy continuously impacted the gene locks. "c***k! c***k!" One gene lock shattered quickly. Soon after, the remaining source energy partially shattered the second gene lock, stopping at around one-third completion. Gu Sha opened his eyes abruptly. "A first-tier warrior!"
