Eleanor The cab rolled to a stop in front of the house, the engine purring low as I reached for my wallet. I handed the driver his fare, added a quiet “thank you,” and pushed the door open. The evening air was cool against my skin as I stepped out. The sky had already turned that deep shade of navy that meant it was fully night now, not just dusk pretending to linger. I hadn’t meant to stay so late at Lara’s, but she had practically tied me down with emotional support and caffeine-free tea and insisted I talk until I had nothing left to say.
