Stevens recoiled in his chair, trying to make sense of the investigation he had conducted.
“Walk us through the steps of these discussions with the art professor and Hannah Morgan, will you?” asked the shift commander, determined to grasp the full import of the information.
“Of course,” said Walker. “I received a telephone call at my desk, at shortly before 4:45 my local time in Boston, from Professor Sterling. He told me that he had acquired the entire collection from a collector who wished to remain anonymous. He wanted to arrange for the safe return of the art, in exchange, of course, for the reward.”
