NINE The Mercedes van crept along the crowded city street. Double parked cars obstructed a single lane of traffic. “I want to show you something special on your birthday, Allie,” said Tim. “What is it?” giggled his niece. “That’s where it all took place, Allie,” said Tim excitedly, as he pointed to a brick building with lights stretching up toward the grey sky. “What is it?” Tim groaned, battling the traffic on Landsdowne. “Allie, you mean to tell me that you don’t remember the story of the greatest baseball game ever played in the history of baseball games?” Allie hesitated, struggling to remember the details of the story Tim had told her several times during their cross-county odyssey.
