As he reached the threshold of the step, he awaited Peter, who carried the second ramp. Peter, now hopelessly out of breath, sat down on the first step. “Just let me rest a moment,” he whined. Tim took the respite to look around the cabin. He peered across the isthmus to the other twin, Lake Mary, just through the trees. The autumn colors of the leaves that remained, clinging to the branches, swayed in the gentle breeze.
