Chapter 5; Anger

Meanwhile …Next day

(Ralf pov)

It just so happened that I had an inspection at our mall branch yesterday so I was there.

Who would have thought that I would see my wife there having fun with another man?

She wasn't really ashamed anymore, I think she even planned to tarnish my family's name.

"Sir, your meeting with the new investor is scheduled.

"Their CEO of MCS has just returned to the country from abroad.

-and said that he will also return abroad soon so we should not miss the opportunity to see him in person.

Harold explained. He is my secretary.

“If so, it’s better that way.

-we should get this investor for our new big project.

Because of this we gain trust from other potential investors.

I said. Then I turned the swivel chair in front of the overlooking view that can be seen from here in my office.

I was standing in front of the transparent glass in my office where I could see the whole city.

The scenery here is really beautiful during the day but it is better at night.

It looks like a galaxy at his feet.

Looking at this wide view somehow reduces all my stress.

I stood for a long time before I sat in the swivel chair in front of a bronze tempered glass desk.

I picked up my phone that was lying on the desk and saw the messages from my secretary.

Everything concentrated on the upcoming schedule about business.

This includes the Marquizes' home coming party.

The Marquises are the major investors of my company's new mall project so I can't refuse this family's invitation.

Besides that, I only recently found out that the Marquises and the Andersons of my wife's family are related.

However, Ivan and Roxette are both adopted by said families so they are not related in blood.

The Marquise and Andersons are known as a charitable family that sponsors charity organizations such as orphanages that help homeless children.

A family like them definitely values every member of the family so even against my will I had to include Roxette when I attended that celebration.

Roxette was currently lying on her bed and looking up at her blank ceiling.

It was just an orderly night after a long day.

Suddenly her phone vibrated on the side table.

"Ralf's secretary?

(Mr. President will pick you up tomorrow at 7:00 at night)

I whispered then I read the whole message.

After I read I immediately threw my phone on the bed.

"I can go without him!' Why does he have to pick me up?"

This is the first time we have been together in an event other than our forced marriage.

"Can I just not come? I'm sure I'll just get bored there.

However, I know that is not possible.

I just have to endure being with him for a moment.

And just like the plan, he would pick me up at the mansion before seven in the evening.

I'm struggling because of my dress and I have to be quick because any moment, Ralf will be arriving.

"Miss Roxette, sir Ralf is downstairs!"

"Speaking of the devil!"

Esmi informed me outside my bedroom.

"All right! ' I'm coming! '

My answer.

Wearing my Emerald green Sexy Halter Evening dress with high slit and three inches rhinestone strap heels, I descended the stairs cautiously.

I feel nervous and excited as well,

in these moments as I go down the stairs.

Ralf was there and watching me as I walked down.

My knees were shaking, because of the nervousness caused by his gaze at me.

“Maybe he doesn’t like what I’m wearing, should I have asked him first what I should wear?

Just like Ralf, is always in shape, he is always presentable and a fine looking man in his formal attire.

"L-lets go? '

I stammered. And of course there was a fool's smile on my face. Just like I always do.

Ralf was about to start walking when I suddenly stepped on the hem of my dress causing me to be out of my balance but he immediately held my hand.

“Be careful!

He says.

It was calm and that was the first time he looked at me straight, we both stared at each other for a sec.

But that didn't last long either.

"Let's go!'

He said with a frown and went out of the mansion first.

A deafening silence passed between the two of us as we made our way.

He looked calm while driving.

I don't know why I look at him as if I'm looking forward to every expression on his face.

"Stop that!"

"Excuse me? '

I was shocked when he suddenly spoke without looking at me.

"You've been staring at me for a while. '

-It's annoying.

I felt my face heat up with sudden embarrassment.

It seems that earlier I noticed him looking at him.

I didn't say a word and just turned my eyes to the dark scene in the window.

He really knows how to embarrass people.

“He’s more annoying.

About a few more minutes passed,we reached the mansion of the Marquizes.

There are so many cars parked outside and from here you can hear the noise coming from inside the mansion.

Expensive cars were the first thing I noticed when I got out of the car.

Their guests were probably wealthy people and business partners of the Marquizes.

I had already walked to the main entrance of the Mansion where a few people were outside.

“Greetings gorgeous!

Ivan greeted me mischievously from the big entrance door.

He looked like a prince in his clothes that really suited a man like him.

I was suddenly embarrassed because of the way he looked at me.

"You're beautiful. '

He promised that he looked a little serious at the same time he took my palm.

"Let me accompany you to where my sister is.'

Ralf stopped walking when he saw how Ivan held his wife's hand and at the same time the two walked into the entrance.

He had to park the car so Roxette got in first.

“Hah!

He was slightly bitten on the lip with annoyance.

Shameless.

In Ralf's mind at those times.

However, he continued to walk and entered the mansion where the party was being held.

He saw Roxette with some women and averted her eyes when she saw him.

Some time later, some men approached him as if they had been waiting for him.

Roxette sighed after drinking the wine she was holding.

She's not really the person who likes this kind of gathering, the family that adopted her indeed is kind to her but there are still others who don't like her.

According to her other cousins, the family always favors her, especially when she is the one to marry Ralf.

She is not a true blood relative of the Andersons but she was the lucky one who was married to a rich family in M city.

So while the family members were talking she was just there in a corner and just watching them.

“I knew this was going to happen, so I was hesitant to come here.

In Roxette's mind. She laid down on the small table the goblet she was holding so that she could get out of the mansion and breathe some fresh air.

"Oh. ' Where are you going?'

-The party has just begun. "Why?' Are are you getting bored already? '

She stopped when two women suddenly approached her.

Sheila and Jessica, her two cousins who always teased her.

"What do you want?"

She asked in disgust.

"Nothing!' Why are you angry? ' We just met again, why don't you talk to us for a while?

Sheila said lamely holding a glass of wine.

"I heard, Ralf is always at the bar, do you have a problem?

- oh maybe he's tired of you right away? '

Jessica replied.

I didn't make a mistake. There is nothing good that these two can do, it is better to talk to the mosquitoes outside the mansion than to talk to these two.

I just walked out of the mansion while they were laughing.

Not because I'm weak so I just let them tease me, but because I just don't want to make things worse.

Ivan saw and heard what happened because he was there in a corner.

He just bowed and quietly followed Roxette.

He saw it sitting on a bench in the garden, not far from the entrance of the mansion.

She' in her bare feet and played with grass.

"There are a lot of mosquitoes, why are you out here?

He asked as if he didn't know what had happened.

"I want some air. '

Roxette replied with a slight smile.

"And you?' why are you here?'

"I'm here to accompany you. '

It's nice to hear. Feeling she doesn't have to wear her smiling mask this time.

Ivan sat down next to her and looked at her face.

"You don't seem happy in married life. '

I knew he knew what was happening to me. Ivan is the type who sees everything even if he doesn't ask, he knows the things he wants to know.

I can't answer what he said.

And I just avoided looking at him.

"All right.' if you don't want to talk about it.

He says.

"Just be patient. '

-I know you can get through it.

"But when there's too much pain, you can just end it.

“It’s not good for you to stay with someone who doesn’t see your worth.'

I hope it's that easy.

I hope I can just leave everything and walk away.

But it's not.

After talking to some businessmen Ralf had a chance to be alone. He looked at the place where Roxette had been.

But she's not there.

He looked around the whole place but did not see his wife.

He took a walk, and he stopped at the large window that was there where he could see the garden outside the mansion.

Roxette was out there with Ivan and they seemed to be talking happily.

He immediately frowned at what he witnessed.

“Why do I always see them together?

What's with them?

Ralf whispered doubtfully. He took a glass of wine and gulped it down.

An hour passed immediately. Ivan and Roxette have decided to go back inside.

Roxette also wants to say goodbye to her family to go home.

After saying her goodbye, she found out that Ralf had left, so she left and went to the car because Ralf was probably waiting for her.

And she wasn't mistaken, Ralf was already in the car and the car's headlights were on.

After she boarded, Ralf immediately started the car even though Roxette did not fasten her seatbelt yet.

She looked at Ralf nervously.

He looks angry and was focus on the road.

It is very dangerous to drive fast especially when he is drunk and the road is quite dark.

But Roxette could do nothing but cling to her seat.

She wants to stopped him, but fear ingulped her that Ralf might get angry if she demand.

Ralf noticed her fear and stepped on the brakes.

And because of that Roxette's head hit the front of the car.

Ralf angrily got out of the car and opened the door on Roxette's side.

He grabbed his wife's arm, which was still holding her forehead that hurts a lot.

"Ahh!' you're hurting me!

Roxette shouted at the tightness of Ralf's grip on her arm.

"What is your problem!?

Roxette scolded because she totally had no idea what was going on.

"What?'

-You do not know?!' You don’t know what you did tonight?

"How could you flirt with another man in front of me? ' You shameless woman!

"What?' What are you saying ?!

-I don't flirt with other men.

Roxette defended herself.

"Oh, really?

-Is that why you and Ivan were alone in the garden earlier?

"What? Will you still refuse?

Ralf shrugged in anger.

"Stop that nonsense! There's nothing between Ivan and me, he's my cousin!'

"Cousin?

-Cousin my f ** kin ass!

Ralf shouted and then punched the car in a rage.

Roxette froze in fear with her eyes open wide.

"Really?' you still won't admit it? '

Ralf said emphatically.

"All right, go home alone!"

Or call your man and ask him to come and pick you up!.'

Ralf said angrily then he got in the car and left Roxette on that dark road alone.

Roxette's tears continued flowing as she looked at her husband's car in the distance.

She had no choice but to weep with great anguish.

Knew herself that she had done nothing wrong.

And could do nothing but accept Ralf's anger.
