Kage stayed curled up on the floor for a long time before he finally went to the bathroom to clean himself up. That’s where he was when Cain returned. Kage whimpered and curled up behind the toilet as the tall man entered.
Cain had a bouquet of red roses and a box with him as he knelt by Kage and held them out to him. “I’m sorry, Dulce Puella. I just got so mad when you lied about that Furian bothering you. I love you and want to protect you.”
“You love me?” Kage asked in a tiny voice.
“Yes,” Cain said, setting the flowers and chocolates down. He reached out to Kage and helped him from where he had curled up. “I just want to see you safe, and Furians are dangerous when they get angry.”
The memory of Kieran biting Altina and then force-feeding her came to Kage’s mind, and he shivered. Then, the memory of Kieran attacking Steve and throwing Lacy’s things in boxes.
“He has shown his true colors to you,” Cain said softly as he gently trailed fingers along Kage’s cheek before he kissed him tenderly. “Let me protect you from him.”
Cain reached over to the tub faucet and began to fill the tub. He was so gentle as he set Kage in the warm, bubbly, sweet-scented water and began to clean Kage. His kisses were so soft and tender that Kage relaxed into Cain’s touch. He winced when Cain touched his opening and squirmed away from the contact.
“It still hurts,” Kage whimpered.
“I’m so sorry,” Cain said softly. “You weren’t ready for me in that form.” He tilted his head and nibbled lightly on Kage’s neck. “Drink and heal so I can show you how much I love you.”
Kage felt his fangs extend and bit down on Cain’s neck. Scalding blood flowed over his tongue, spicier than Kieran’s but full of power. Cain moaned, lifted Kage from the bath, and carried him to the bedroom. Everything was gentle. Even more so than all the times Kieran had pleasured Kage.
Is this what making love is?
