Chapter 2: Meeting His Cold Heart

1290 Words
Cassandra Takahashi Watson’s Pov. It's been a week since I last saw him, and I'm feeling surprisingly sad about not seeing his face anymore, despite the fact that I wanted him to leave me alone. My new private doctor entered my room. “How was your feeling, Ms. Watson?” When he is talking it feels odd. “I’m fine.” “Have your breakfast. Tomorrow, your regular doctor will be back.” Wh-what? Will he be back here? As in tomorrow. “Okay.” I tried to hide my excitement. Damn! Why do I feel excited, yet I don’t even care about him. “Eat your breakfast, Ms. Watson. I’m leaving. See you later.” “Thanks. I will.” I gladly replied. I spent the rest of my afternoon resting in my bed and reading books. It’s already 1 am and I don’t know why I can’t sleep right now, maybe because my mind is tired of sleeping or-. No, that’s impossible. Ugh, I still don’t want to see him. That’s all. I’m slowly closing my eyes to sleep. I woke up with a smile on my face, simply because I dreamed of leaving this hospital-” Come in.” Is it not too early for my medicine? He’s back. “Good morning, Doctor Lawson.” “Morning.” Huh, what’s happening to him? Why is he acting like that? “Sorry, if you think I got here too early. I just want to check the papers that Doctor Suarez left here about your past day's result.” He opens the drawer and, without even glancing, he picks it up and starts walking to the door. When he’s about to open the door, “Wait!” Huh, what am I saying? He just turned his back without uttering a word. “Will you be the one to take care of me again?” “I am not sure, Ms. Watson.” Ms. Watson? He never calls me that. “I am currently busy with my new patient, so if you let me. May I leave?” New patient? Why do I feel this being broken? “Oh, yeah. Thank you.” With that, he left. Is that the cause of what I said to him last week? I pushed him away. Goddammit! What’s happening to me? Alexander Gwen T. Watson’s Pov. I am Alexander, the brother of Cassandra. I was about to leave for work when my sister suddenly called. "Hey, sis. What with a sudden call?" "Can I talk to you?" What's with her? "Sure. Are you okay there? Has something happened? Do you want me to go there?" I asked at the same time. "No, no, no. Nothing bad happened. I just want to ask if- ""If what?" Huh, all I could hear was the beep of the call. Why did she end it? I immediately dialed the finished number. "Yes, sir?" "I can't be there right now." "But sir." "No buts, reschedule all of them." I ended the call and drove my car to the hospital to see my sister. When I was walking, I saw a familiar guy talking to someone. "Doctor Lawson?" "Oh, Mr. Watson." "I'm here to see my sister. Can I see her?" "Apparently not, Mr. Watson. She's resting." "Rest? She just called me, is there anything happening?" "Everything is fine. You can check her later." With that he left. What's his f*****g problem? I waited for an hour when a nurse approached me. "You can now visit Ms. Watson, Mr. Watson." "Thank you." Cassandra Takahashi Watson’s Pov. I am not expecting my brother to be here. I didn't want him to see me crying. "Are you okay?" he hurriedly asked. I am just lucky that I have a brother like him. "Yes." "Stop lying, Cass. I'm your brother, you should tell me if something is bothering you." "Thanks for that, but I am perfectly fine." "Then, why are you crying? Huh." s**t! What should I say? "Ahm...I-I have this book that I read earlier, and it's very painful." I lied. I'm avoiding his gaze because I can feel that if I look up to face him, he will surely find out that I am lying. The opening door caught our attention. "Good after, doc." "Afternoon. I'm here to check your heart beating and to give you your medicine, Ms. Watson." I still can't get over him calling me Ms. Watson. What's with him? He moved forward to check my heart. "Are you okay, Ms. Watson? Your heart suddenly palpitates." Why is he acting all of a sudden-"Cass?" my brother called my name. "Oh, yeah. I'm fine." Did I space out? "Here's your medicine." And he left, huh? Before, he waits for me to drink my medicine before leaving. "Drink it, sis. I'm leaving, just call me if you need something, okay?" "Wouldn't I distract you in that case?" "No, I am not going to the office today, I'll be with my wife, so chillax." He started walking toward the door. "Oh, before I forgot, Xhander misses so much, he begged me to see you." "I miss him too." I woke up with a headache today. When I checked the clock it was already ten in the morning. Oh s**t. I have an appointment today and I woke up late. A knock stops me from thinking “Come in.” Ugh, him again. “Good morning, doc.” I greeted him gladly. Ouch, he just ignored me. “Your appointment with Dr. Francisco will start in an hour.” Huh, I thought it was him. “Are you listening, Ms. Watson?” “oh, yeah, sorry.” “Good. Eat your food and I will let the nurse give you your medicine.” He walked toward the door now. “Wait.” I stopped him. “Ahm, Can I ask you something?” He stopped from walking and faced me. “What do you want to talk about, Ms. Watson?” "When are you going to stop calling me that?" "Calling what Ms. Watson?" "Ms. Watson." "I am not going to stop calling you that because I am just respecting my patient." He said emotionlessly. "Don't worry you are not the one I am calling Ms." I saw him start walking again. I got up from my bed and held his shoulder to stop him. I saw nothing in his eyes. I can't read what he is thinking. "What are you doing?" He asked. "Why are you acting like that? I don't know what's happening to you. You used to stay with me every morning when you were giving me medicine, but right now....." Tears are starting to fall in my cheeks. Damn, why am I crying? "Why are you keeping distancing yourself from me? You don't know how it feels because you don't care all this time." When he was about to turn, I held his hand. "Please, answer me." I saw coldness in his eyes. "You told me to keep away from you. You are the one who taught me to be like this. You taught me not to use myself to be with you-""Yes, I said that out of nowhere because I'm really lost. I don't know who to believe and what to do now. I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." "I always try to understand you because of your condition. I care a lot about you, but you don't appreciate it-""I'm starting to love you, Zack." "I did before too." I smiled and can taste my tears now. "But all I can give right now is my service as your doctor." He left. I didn't stop him because he also had a point.
