"I hope I never need it," I told him. "I don't like carrying a gun everywhere."
"You need it for protection. Maybe you need a smaller gun that you can carry, especially now. There is danger everywhere, and I'm afraid whoever is coming for everyone around you might come for you."
That was a real concern that we had, but I didn't want to think about that any longer than I had to. I would do that once I went back to the reality that was waiting for me back in New York.
