It's all sunk cost fallacy. She read about this somewhere before. She's not supposed to make the decision based on what she has already put into it. For all she knows, what's waiting for her in the future is even more terrifying, but before she can open her mouth and protest some more, call out half-hearted 'no's and 'please don't's, she feels fingers on her cheeks, pinching down to open her jaw and a cloth being stuffed into her mouth.
"I warned you that if you couldn't keep quiet I'm going to gag you, didn't I?"
She whimpers, tears burning in her eyes.
