‘I won’t be able to sleep,’ Aileen muttered. ‘They might’ve been quarrelling but he loved her. He’s broken.’ ‘What do you mean quarrelling?’ Aileen shook her head, looking at her feet. ‘Tomorrow’ she echoed. Callan only shrugged and walked off, leaving her and the inn alone beneath the starry sky. The next morning dawned with annoyingly cheerful sunshine gleaming in through the windows and a throbbing headache. Aileen snorted.
