The security guard smiled politely. “Hospital policy,” he said. “Random ID verification.” The orderly gave a small nod. “Of course.” He reached into the pocket of his blue scrubs. The guard relaxed slightly. Then, without warning, the orderly threw a handful of white powder into the guard’s face. The man cried out, stumbling backward, clawing at his eyes. The orderly didn’t hesitate.
