Rebecca smiled faintly as the call ended. She stared at the phone for a brief moment before slipping it into her pocket.
“He must be busy,” she murmured to herself.
The elderly woman looked up from the basket of freshly picked vegetables.
“Was it that young man?”
Rebecca nodded.
“He said he’s in Mexico, checking on some farm work.”
The old woman chuckled.
“That boy works too hard.”
Rebecca simply smiled before picking up another basket and following the elderly woman back toward the garden, never once suspecting that Damian had lied to her.
