Chapter Twenty Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained Arinwyn’s booted feet slapped against the salt-stained planks of Cinder’s docks. The angry buzz of the mob behind her carried on the evening breeze, only slightly muffled by the sound of the pounding surf. She reached past these distractions to focus on her magic, which was no easy task, under the circumstances. “How much longer?” she heard Lodariel ask from where the other elf ran beside her. “Just keep running,” Nasir said. Only Arinwyn knew him well enough to detect the faint note of worry in his voice. “We won’t have anything left to run on soon,” Lodariel said between breaths while jerking her chin in Arinwyn’s direction with a pointed look.
