Isla POV I lay on the hospital bed, exhausted from the day. The secretary sat beside me, finishing up a call. I still didn't know his name. My head was bandaged. My ribs were wrapped. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I shifted slightly and immediately regretted it — a sharp pain reminded me exactly where the cracks were. I let out a slow breath and waited for it to pass. Vivienne hired those men to hurt me. Not kill me. That much was obvious. If they had wanted me dead, I would have died in that corridor.
