Isla POV The night air hit us as we stepped out of the venue. Mr. Vale still had me on his back, and even the security guards were staring. I felt my face burn, embarrassed to be carried by my boss, but I was too tired to care. I rested my cheek against his shoulder, breathing in the scent of his cologne and feeling the tension still knotted in his muscles. He was still angry – I could feel it. We reached the car. He didn't put me down until he'd opened the passenger door and eased me into the seat. "Thank you," I said softly. He nodded and walked around to the driver's side.
