It was getting dark outside and the sun was setting. I assumed that it was about 7 P.M I was just on the outskirts of a small town called Sugar Hill. The first pack I would encounter would be here. The Moon Stone pack. My father had told me this was a very strong pack. Last time he had encountered them they had a new Alpha. He had said if I wanted a family like pack, this would be the one. They were close knit, and all lived in what my father called a pack house. I decided I would try to cross their land tomorrow. Tonight I was going to stay at a motel and get some rest. I hid behind the trees, shifted back, and got dressed. I crossed the tree lines and into town.
I went to a small cottage like house. It had a sign that said Sugar bed and breakfast. With a flashing like under that said vacancy. This would do because I felt my body ready to go to sleep. My wolf was tired and ready to end the night. I walked up the steps and to the door. A bell rang when I opened the door and from behind the desk came a little old woman.
She gave me a welcoming smile. “Welcome! What can I do for you, young lady?”
“Hi, I need a room for the night please?”
“Of course. Will it just be you?”
“It’s just me.” I said, pulling out the money my father had given me.
“You look awful young to be traveling alone. It’ll be 59 for the night.” She said, giving me a weary smile.
I handed her the cash. “You’ll need to fill out this form. I’ll be right back with your room key.”
She gave me the paper and left from behind the desk. The paper only had about 3 questions on it. Name, date of birth and phone number. I filled out the paper and waited about 5 minutes for her to return.
“Emma, that’s a very pretty name.” She said as she handed me my room key, looking over the paper. “Well, my name is Jenny, and I am always here. On the back of your room key is my personal number, feel free to call me if you need anything. We have breakfast at 7 A.M. Your room is up the steps and is the second door on the right.”
I smiled and thanked her and began to make my way to my room. I was too tired to try to make conversation. I figured I could do that tomorrow morning over breakfast. I made my way up the steps and to my room. I unlocked the door and looked around. The room looked like something you would see in an antique magazine. The queen-sized bed had four posts made from what looked like pure oak, there was a huge rug on the floor that covered most of the wooden floors. The rug looked like something a grandma would have with tassels on the ends of it. There was a fluffy bench seat at the end of the bed and a dresser that matched the oak bed on the wall across from the bed. There was no TV in the room, which was okay because I planned to get changed and go to bed. I’m sure my eyes won’t make it much longer to watch TV anyhow.
I changed into my boxer shorts and a white tank top, brushed my teeth, and climbed into bed. I know I couldn’t have been lying down long before I drifted off to sleep.
I was woken up by a loud knock on the door. I lay in bed trying to get my surroundings. I remember where I was finally and laid there a second longer trying to figure out if I heard the bang or if I was just dreaming. The sun was just starting to come up and was peeping through the blinds. Bang! Bang! Bang! There were the knocks again, but this time they were louder and sounded more harsh. I jumped out of bed and rushed over to the door, wondering who would be banging on the door this early.
I opened the door and saw three men standing on the other side of it. They pushed past me and went into my room.
“Um excuse me, but can I help you?” I asked angerly. The men turned and faced me. These men were wolves. You can tell by looking at them. There was no way a human could be as muscular and good looking as these three men. I knew they belonged to the Moon Stone pack. The man in the middle had dark hair and his arms folded crossed his chest. I could tell he was high ranked within the pack.
“You realize you are trespassing, and though you take that tone with us?” He said with a small smirk on his face.
“I do realize that, actually, it’s a long story, but I’d much rather talk it over with someone who is in charge. I’m looking for a pack to join.” I said, trying to keep my nerves calm. I’m sure they could tell how nervous I was. My hands had begun shaking, and I could feel I was sweating. I was hoping they couldn’t hear how quickly my heart was racing, but I knew they probably could. The other two men didn’t say anything, just the one in the middle.
“You’re a rouge. Most rouges don’t try to join packs, just attack them.”
“Does it look like I could do a lot of damage?” I sarcastically said.
After that, the three men came close to me. The two who were not talking walked beside me and grabbed my arms. I knew they would leave bruises because of how tightly they grabbed.
“Is this really necessary?” I asked.
“I’m afraid you will have to come with me.” The man in the middle said, and then he threw a bag over my head while the other two tied my hands behind my back. I tried to squirm, but I knew it was no use because these men outweighed me by hundreds. I wouldn’t be able to get away from them if I tried to and I knew to meet the Alpha I had to be taken to him, but they could’ve just taken me, they didn’t need all these dramatics. They walked me down the steps and out the door of the bed and breakfast. I wondered what Mrs. Jenny would think about seeing this and hoped that they did it at a time she wasn’t at the front desk. When outside, it was a short walk before I heard the alarm of a car unlocking. The man opened the door and sat me in the car. When I heard the car start, I decided that if they were going to be this dramatic, I should at least know their names.
“You could at least tell me your, since you’re going to kidnap me” I smirked, even though I knew they couldn’t see it. They all stayed silent.
It felt like we were driving for an hour or more when the car came to a stop. My hands being useless, I waited for them to open the door and lead me to wherever they were taking me. I heard the door open, and a hand on each of my arms, the men pulled me from the car an we began walking outside. It was oddly quiet. I heard another door open and close, and we were now walking down the steps. I began counting them. We walked down 52 steps and I knew where they were taking me. The dungeon. My father had told me most packs had them to hold rouges and criminals. I may have been a rouge, but not what they thought. My father told me stories of packs torturing and beating rouges. I was now fearing what they were going to do to me. Finally, they let go of my arm, ripped the bag off my head and pushed me into a cell. It was dark and cold. The cell was made out of cobblestone and had old metal bars on the gate. In the cell was a cut out in the cobble stone with no pillow and just a sheet. Now it was setting in. Now my nerves were setting in, my wolf had her tail tucked between her legs and was whimpering in a corner. Suddenly her ears popped up and she stood up “Mate!” She began to jump and shout and became all giddy. I began looking around, wondering who my wolf sensed because the only ones near were the three men who had come to the bed and breakfast. Then it hit me. The smell of pine wood. The smell of freshness. I had never smelt anything so addictive. I knew that had to be my mate, but where was he? I pray it wasn’t another rouge locked up down here. I began searching, looking outside of the cell, trying to see as far as I could. All I could see were the three men who brought me here.
I see them suddenly straighten and stand tall. The one who did the talking began to walk down the hall and out of my sight. I could hear him talking but couldn’t see or hear what he was saying. The addicting smell grew stronger. My body felt like it was undergoing an electric shock. I had chills all over my body. All I wanted was to have that smell close to me. If it was a swimming pool, I’d be diving in it. My wolf was running around in circles yelling, Mate!
The other two who stood by my cell bowed their heads and at the same time, said Alpha.
The smell came closer, and my wolf was going crazy. I knew at that moment he was my mate. He stood at least 7'3. He looked as if he was made of stone. He wore black dress pants, a white dress shirt tucked in and buttoned almost all the way up, leaving just enough space to show some black chest hair. His cuffs on his shirt were unbuttoned and he looked as if he had just gotten off work and was in the middle of undressing. His hair was longer than the other two and was messy, it looked like he had his hair slick back for an office job and had just ran his hands threw it to mess it up. His smell was intoxicating. I could stare at him and find something new that amazed me every time.
“This is the rouge that crossed our boarders late last night. The one Jenny called us about.” The one man who did all the talking said. So, Jenny knew I was a rouge. She knew about wolves. She called them and told them I was there. Hearing this made me look at the man with a confused face. I noticed then just how long I had been staring at the Alpha. I quickly turned away from him and looked at the floor.
“Get her an actual blanket and pillow, and a change of clothes!” I heard the alpha say in a demanding voice. His eyes never left me. He kept scanning me up and down. I knew he had been feeling what I was feeling. I knew his wolf was going crazy just like mine. “ Bring her breakfast”. He said just before walking away.
Maybe my wolf had it all wrong. Maybe he wasn’t our mate. If he was, how could he just walk away and leave me here? My heart dropped… I knew he was my mate. I knew all the color had left my face and I backed away from the gate and reached behind me to grab the wall for support. I felt my knees getting weak when the realization of what was happening hit me. He was going to reject me as his mate. Was I not pretty enough? I mean he was looking at me just as much as I was looking at him. Was it because I was a rouge? Maybe if I talked to him, he would understand I didn’t choose to be a rouge, and I wanted to change that. I have never committed any crimes. Next time I saw him I would tell him. I can not let him reject me without trying first to show him. My heart was hurting. I wanted him close to me. I wanted to feel his touch but most of all, I wanted to smell his smell.
One of the men came back with a pillow, a blanket, and some gray sweatpants and breakfast. While the breakfast smelled amazing; eggs, gravy, hash browns, bacon, and a cup of orange juice, I didn’t have an appetite. I wanted to prepare what I would tell the Alpha. I pulled the sweatpants over my shorts and decided to think of what I should tell him.
“Will the Alpha be back?” I asked the guard.
“He will be back tonight; he wants to talk with you.”
“Good.” I spoke. I have time to figure out exactly what I would say to him.
