Chapter 3

POV - Izzy Sol lead me through the halls of the Manor back to the room I first saw when coming inside the Mansion.  He turned towards the left and lead me through the doors of a room I hadn't noticed existed in the Manor but once inside the room I stared wide-eyed at it's massive size. "You don't have to worry, little one. I know it is big in here but I promise it doesn't become overly crowded." Sol said, still in his lion form. Just like the few rooms I had seen firsthand in this huge mansion, this room was absolutely breathtaking. The room had so much open space and several massive windows with the dark blue curtains pulled back to let the sunlight in. The walls were a beautiful deep gold with black and white designs engraved deep into the walls. There was a desk straight ahead of us with papers organized into piles on it. "I want you to stay close to me, will you go to my desk?" Sol asked, nodding his head towards the desk ahead of us. I did as he asked and walked through the room to the desk. With my back turned to him, I didn't realize he changed forms from a lion to a wolf until I turned around once I got to the desk. Just like the lion, his wolf form was massive. His black fur was thick and smooth looking.  Sol glanced over his shoulder at me before he tilted his head back and howled. His howl echoed through the mansion, I could practically visualize it moving through the walls like a ghost.  At first, silence followed his haunting howl, the silence was thick and made me uncomfortable. Sol watched the door closely, clearly waiting for something. His ears twitched and I heard it too. The footsteps and the voices coming closer and closer.  Sol turned and came to stand beside me in front of his desk. The doors were pushed open and I instantly recognized the first woman to enter the room.  It was Kate. A group of both men and woman followed behind her, Angel and a few other children were among them. They stood in small groups, Kate stayed close to the children. All eyes were on Sol and me. Sol didn't waste another moment being in silence. He stepped towards the others before speaking without even opening his jaws. "Good evening everyone." Sol began.  "Good evening, Sol." The group replied together. "I've called you here to meet our new guest. She may become a permanent member of our System if it is what she decides is best for her." Sol said before glancing over at me.  "Go on, introduce yourself." He encouraged softly. I stared out ahead of me at the other people in the room, clenching my shaking fists tightly. "My name is Izzy... I'm 7 years old." I said, hoping my voice wasn't shaking as badly as it sounded. Everyone stared at me and the silence in the room was deafening.  Kate was the first to step forward to greet me. "Hello Izzy, I'm Kate." She smiled at me as she reached out her hand to me. "Careful, little girl." Adina sneered from the back of the room. "She might zap you if you're a bad girl." She smirked. Kate turned around and looked at Adina.  "Would you like to test that theory, Adina?" Kate asked, lifting her hand and wiggling her fingers playfully. Adina rolled her eyes but didn't fire back an insult.  Kate smirked. "No? Now that's shocking." She winked at Adina before turning back to me. "Don't mind her. I'm not dangerous, I have control of my powers." Kate smiled as she rested her hand briefly against my cheek. "We're so happy to have you here with us, Izzy. I think you're going to really like it here." Kate smiled at me. She glanced up at Sol with a strange look in her eyes. "I think you'll be a great mommy." The words slipped from my tongue before I realized what I was even saying. Kate returned her focus to me, taking her hand away from my face. She looked a little taken aback at first but the look of confusion faded and she smiled kindly at me. "Well, thank you, Izzy." She said softly before standing up. "Have you met the other children?" She asked as she looked over her shoulder at the rest of the group. I followed her eyes to the children that stood near the back. One of them I recognized. The other two I didn't have a clue who they were. "I met Angel," I told Kate. Kate smiled down at me. "Of course our Head would want to introduce his daughter first, you're such a gentleman aren't you Sol?" Kate glanced up at Sol as she spoke. "Well Izzy, I would like for you to meet a few other children that live here," Kate said as she lead me through the room to the children. "This is Jenny," Kate said. I followed her eyes to the little girl with dark skin and dark hair. She stood awkwardly with the other children, with her head down and ears covered with both her hands. And though she looked like she was uncomfortable or even in pain she still smiled and occasionally tilted her head back to grin at the ceiling. "This is Bryce," Kate said, motioning to the little boy with wicked green eyes and platinum blond hair. He smirked at me but didn't say a word as he glanced up at Kate with a look of pure hatred. Jenny jumped up and down and made strange noises as she smiled, then lifted one foot and then the other as if she were walking in place, her smile never fading.  Kate watched her and smiled then turned me away from the children. "You've met Sol, obviously. He's the Head of our System." Kate said casually but it was what she said that caught me off guard.  I stopped walking and looked at her. "System?" The word sounded familiar to me but for the life of me, I couldn't place it with the memory. "Yes, Izzy," Kate said. She looked down at me like she wanted to say more but she was gently interrupted by a woman's voice that came from behind us. "Izzy?" Her voice made my body go stiff for a moment. With Kate's hand on my shoulder, I was able to turn around slowly but it didn't stop me from letting out a choked sob when I saw my older sister slowly coming into the room, her gloved hand gently pushing open the massive door. "Emily..." I whispered.
