I couldn’t move. That girl seems to have all the power in her. I couldn’t have asked fro a sweeter revenge, but my favor was switched really quickly to hers as she walked into the room it seemed. She handled the situation better than I ever expected her to. And that would be the reason why I couldn’t do my gentlemanly deed and walk Emilie to the door. Nope and she’ll never believe me when I tell her that Emilie’s just a distant cousin.
When I heard the door close. I expected to see Tammy walk into the room again and called me every name under the sun. If not that, then show to me what I’ve been missing for the last almost four months (I’m banking on the first though). Much to my surprise, I heard footsteps on the stairs. That’s when I decided it had gone far enough.
After taking a few more deep breathes to get myself under control enough to walk, I followed up the stair. I knew she would be on the balcony outside of the guest room. The guest room had French doors that opened toward the beach. It was only furnished with pillows, bean bags, a small table, and a mini refrigerator. Tammy liked it because of the wall paintings inspired by the noon day. There were two other rooms similar to it, the morning room and the evening rooms (one has the sunrise, and the other the sunset).
As I walked in, I saw Tammy’s beautiful from sitting behind the table, starting out at the beach.
“How could you?” she asked, as I entered. When I didn’t get a response, she turned around and looked at me with this hurt look in her eyes.
“How could you?” she repeated.
“How could I what, Tammy?” I asked quietly. I knew she was going to let me know every way that I was wrong. But I wasn’t worried. I was ready for her.
“You know what you did,” she said. I just wanted to kiss her and wipe the hurt from her eyes.
“No, what did I do?” I asked. I could feel all the anger I’ve carried from the moment I had learned the truth. “I loved you from the moment I laid eye on you, seduced by your charm, and enticed by your intelligence, fathered our child, married you and I’m in the wrong? Sweetie, I believe some blame has been misplaced.”
She sat there staring at me. I knelt in front of her. “You brought her in here,” she whispered.
“She’s my distant cousin. But let’s be real, that’s not what you’re mad at me. Tammy,” I held her face. “I never would intentionally hurt you. You and I both know that I didn’t r**e you. So why are you pushing me away?”
She didn’t answer. I found that discerning. So what, you don’t want me? I was listening to the song you played the last night. “Come as you are, lay with me. Now that your eyes have said goodbye.” I know it’s a break up song. What was it supposed to mean?”
She continued to sit there.
“You know what,” I said. “I married you because I love you. There never be another way. But right now, I don’t know what to do. When you’re ready for me, I’ll be right here.” I stood up. “I’m going to the bedroom.”
With that I left out probably seeming strong, but I was crumbling. My heart, Tammy, was hurting and because of that, so was I.
