CHAPTER THREE : THE WORSHIP LEADER

Gwen suddenly asked Hailey, "Hey, what's the name of the guy who led worship at the Holy Convention?"
Hailey replied with a sly grin, "Chris, from another Christian High branch."
Gwen's eyes widened as she turned to Hailey. "Chris, huh? What do you know about him?" she asked, trying to sound casual.
Hailey grinned mischievously. "Oh, nothing much... just that he's a worship leader at his branch, and he's super talented! And, of course, he's got a certain... charm"
Gwen playfully rolled her eyes. "Hailey, stop it! What else do you know?"
Hailey shrugged, still teasing. "Hmm, let me think... he's from Light state, I think? And he's really passionate about music and ministry. Oh, and he's single"
Gwen's face turned bright red, and Hailey burst out laughing. "Got you!"
Gwen laughed too, feeling a bit embarrassed but also excited. "Shut up, Hailey! But seriously, how can I get to know him?"
Hailey grinned, happy to help. "Leave that to me, bestie. I'll make sure you two meet again"
Gwen tried to clarify, "Hailey, I swear, I only wanted Chris to teach me how to sing. That's all!"
Hailey raised an eyebrow, still grinning. "Oh, sure, sure. Just 'teach you how to sing', huh?"
Gwen rolled her eyes. "Seriously, Hailey! I'm not trying to get swoony over him or anything. I just want to improve my vocal skills."
Hailey chuckled. "Uh-huh, sure thing, Gwen. And I'm the Queen of England"
Gwen laughed, feeling a bit exasperated. "Hailey, stop it! I'm being serious!"
Hailey pretended to zip her lips. "Okay, okay. I won't tease you... anymore. But just for the record, I think Chris would be happy to 'teach' you how to sing"
Gwen playfully hit Hailey with a book. "Hailey, you're impossible!"
The bell rang for them to sleep as they had climbed down from the rooftop.
The girls headed to their dorm, chatting and giggling as they got ready for bed. Hailey whispered, "Night, Gwen. Don't dream about Chris too much"
Gwen just rolled her eyes and smiled, "Shut up, Hailey. Goodnight!"
As they drifted off to sleep, Gwen couldn't help but wonder if she'd really see Chris again...
The next morning, Hailey burst into the room, her phone in hand. "Gwen, wake up! I got a plan".
Hailey's bouncing on the bed, phone in hand. "Gwen, I've got Chris' number!"
Gwen's curious. "How did you get it?"
Hailey grins. "Doesn't matter! Point is, I got it. And I'm encouraging you to message him."
Gwen's hesitant. "Me? No way, Hailey. You message him."
Hailey teases, "Aww, come on! It'll be fun, I promise. Just say hi, see how he's doing..."
Gwen's still unsure, but Hailey's persistence is winning her over. "Okay, fine... but if he doesn't reply, I'm blaming you."
Hailey's triumphant. "That's the spirit! Now, what should we say?"
Gwen takes a deep breath, starts typing away on Hailey's phone...she sends a message to Chris: "Hi Chris"
A few minutes pass, and Chris replies: "Who is this?"
Gwen smiles and types: "Hey Chris! It's Gwen from the Holy Convention. I wanted to say your voice is amazing! The worship session was so powerful. I'd love to learn how to sing like you"
Chris responds quickly: "Wow, thank you Gwen! Means a lot coming from you. I'd love to help you improve your singing.
Gwen's eyes widen as she reads the message out loud to Hailey. "Hailey, he agreed to teach me!"
Hailey squeals. "Yes, go for it! When and where?"
Gwen's face falls slightly as she types on Hailey's phone. "Hailey, he's leaving today to go back to his branch. He won't be available"
Hailey's disappointed too. "Aww, that's too bad. Ask him if he'd be willing to give you some tips over the phone or video call then"
Gwen nods and types away.
Chris agreed to give Gwen tips on phone or video call. Gwen's excited!
Gwen squeals quietly, "Yes! Phone or video call works! When's good for him?"
Hailey grins. "Let him pick. Flexibility is key"
Gwen types away, awaiting Chris' response....
Chris responds: "How about tomorrow evening? We can do a quick video call"
Gwen's thrilled! "Tomorrow evening sounds perfect!" she says to Hailey.
Hailey's happy for her friend. "Yay! Make sure to prep some vocal exercises"
Gwen nods, getting serious. "Got it , Tomorrow evening sounds perfect! What time works for you?"
Chris responds quickly: "How about 6 pm?"
Gwen's face lights up. "6 pm sounds great! I'll be ready"
Hailey gives a thumbs-up. "Perfect! Now, let's get those vocal exercises ready"
Gwen confirms with Chris: "6 pm sounds great! I'll be ready"
Chris responds: "Awesome! Looking forward to it. Do you have any specific areas you'd like to work on vocally?"
Gwen's eyes widen as she reads the message. "He wants to know what I want to work on!"
Hailey's curious too. "What did you tell him?"
Gwen starts typing..."I'd love to work on my range and tone. I struggle with hitting the high notes"
Chris responds quickly: "Range and tone are great areas to focus on! I've got some exercises that can help. See you tomorrow at 6 pm"
Gwen's excited! " He's got exercises for me! I'm so down"
Hailey's hyped too. "Yessss! You're gonna kill it tomorrow! m"
The girls high-five, grinning. Time to prep for tomorrow's vocal session!
