CHAPTER TWO : THE HOLY CONVENTION

834 Words
And then, finally, the big day arrived! The school was transformed, and we were all ready to welcome our guests. I woke up early, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. Hailey and I quickly got dressed in our matching outfits, complete with Holy Convention badges, and headed to the auditorium for setup. As we arrived, I was blown away by the transformation. The decorations committee had done an amazing job – the stage was stunning, with a huge banner reading "Holy Convention 2026" in bold letters. The sound and lighting team were doing a final check, and the ushering team were stationed at every entrance, ready to welcome guests. The food committee had set up a delicious spread in the cafeteria, with everything from jollof rice to grilled chicken and veggies. The aroma was incredible! I grabbed a quick breakfast, and then Hailey and I headed to our assigned stations. I was helping with registration, handing out programs and welcoming guests, while Hailey was helping with decorations, making sure everything was perfect. As the guests started arriving, the energy in the air was electric. Students from other Christian High branches, church leaders, and even some special guests – everyone was buzzing with excitement. The School Owner arrived, and the atmosphere shifted to reverence. He took the stage, and the Holy Convention began. The worship was powerful, the messages were inspiring, and I felt my heart swell with joy and gratitude to the Lamb of God. And then, it was time for the heart's desires. We'd written them down on papers, and now it was time to drop them on the altar. I felt a lump in my throat as I watched people sharing their deepest prayers and hopes. The School Owner prayed over them, and I felt a sense of peace wash over me. The convention ended with a powerful message, and we all left feeling inspired and uplifted. It was truly an unforgettable experience! As we filed out of the auditorium, Hailey turned to me with a huge grin. "Can you believe it?!" she squealed. "It was amazing!" I was still on a high, replaying the School Owner's message in my head. We exchanged a few excited words, and then the crowd started dispersing. Some students were heading to the cafeteria for lunch, while others were grabbing their papers and pens to journal about their experiences. I spotted a group of friends from another branch, and we quickly huddled for a group hug. "That was incredible!" one of them exclaimed. Meanwhile, the School Owner was shaking hands and chatting with guests near the exit. As I waited in line to thank him, I felt a sense of pride and gratitude. He noticed me, smiled, and said, "God bless you, young one. Keep shining!" After that, it was time for lunch. The food committee had done an amazing job – the jollof rice was spicy, the grilled chicken was finger-licking good, and the company was even better. We laughed, shared stories, and made new friends. The afternoon was a blur of activities – games, worship sessions, and even a surprise testimony from a student who'd gotten healed during the convention! As the day drew to a close, we gathered for a final worship session, and I felt my heart overflow with joy. And then, it was all over. We said our goodbyes, exchanged contact info, and promised to stay in touch. As I walked back to my hostel room with Hailey, the silence was golden. We were both tired but happy, our hearts still buzzing from the experience. The next day was a chill day, with no official events, so we slept in, caught up on rest, and just relaxed with friends. Hailey and I decided to take a stroll around the school, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. As we walked, we talked about our favorite moments from the convention. We both agreed that the School Owner's message had really resonated with us, and we were determined to apply the lessons to our lives. We also discussed our heart's desires – what we'd written on those papers and dropped on the altar. I shared mine with Hailey (it was kinda personal, but she's my best friend, right?), and she shared hers with me. We prayed for each other, and it was such a sweet moment. Later that day, some students started sharing testimonies on social media – small things, like finding lost items or reconnecting with friends, that they'd attributed to the Holy Convention. It was amazing to see how the event had impacted people in different ways. The School Owner even posted a message, thanking everyone for making the convention a success and encouraging us to keep the fire burning. As the day drew to a close, Hailey and I sat on the hostel roof, watching the sunset, and reflecting on the past few days. It had been an incredible experience, and we were both grateful to have been a part of it.
