Chapter 1

For 5 years we have been on the run. Never stopping in one place for to long. When we did all hell broke lose. We had respectful Lunas but the Alphas would beat on me. My children would make friends but it would all come to an end. A thing, curse if you have it, would follow. I managed to get out of the pack to hopefully save them but by the third pack I kept us moving. The first year was the hardest as we didn’t have a pack. For three years after we had three different packs and then the last year we have been on our own again. I home school the children to the best I can. I got them books to learn from when I could get enough money. They learned quickly and where very smart. The youngest, Patric was a dare devil much like his older brother was. Marcus finally got out of his terrible age and was a very respectful 10 year old. He was so helpful when it came to his younger brother. He was always teaching him. Both boys looked much like there dad. Autumn red hair with define jaw and long necks. Their small noses and brown eyes where all there mothers. They will be handsome when older. “Careful on the step Patric.” I spoke gently as he jumped down from the bus. Marcus was behind me holding his bag and mine while I had my purse and Patric’s bag. “Mommy where are we?” He asked as he looked around. You could see the little gears ticking in his mind. He was trying to scout out the best restaurants and parks. “Our new home for the next few weeks.” Marcus exclaimed trying to be happy. It broke my heart to hear him like this. I hid it though as I got off the bus and waited for them to pull out our lugage. Two arms wrapped around me causing me to jump till I saw it was Marcus. “I’m sorry mom.” “I understand sweetheart.” I gently spoke as I hugged him back. This was as hard on him as it was me. Everyday since we set out he had been crying for his mom. Patric use to cry all the time but soon he got familiar with me and I was able to get him to sleep. The first day Marcus called me mom had my heart fill with pride. It was his 7th birthday and he said it freely. I had managed to make enough money to get him a cake and he was so happy. “Your doing a good job mom. I think it’s just nerves.” He said. I knew it was difficult for him to make friends. It didn’t help by the time he did we where on the move again. “I think we will stay here. I am done running. If they come after us here I will stand and fight.” I told him kissing the top of his head. “Do you mean it mom?” He asked in shock as he looked up at me. I smiled and nodded. It was about time we stopped running. I couldn’t do it. They have made us run far enough. I don’t think anyone here would even know what pack we belonged to if I told them. I know this was all good but I probably will get scared when they do come after us and run. I just hoped not. “Mommy I get friends.” Patric asked pulling on my pant leg. I looked at him with a nod. A smile plastered to my face. “Here are your bags ma’am.” The driver spoke putting them down in front of me. I quickly pulled my long wavy hair up into a bun. I was happy the first day away from that dungeon, I was finally able to clean myself. My hair took a hit and for five years I have been doing everything I could to help it on the small budget I had. My gently tanned skin popped my purple eyes. I was skinny but that was something I couldn’t worry about. My boys needed the food. “Let’s go find a place to stay.” I told them as I gave Patric his back pack and placed mine on my back. I grabbed one of the old style suitcases and one that rolled as Marcus grabbed the other. I smiled happily as we began to walk. The place was huge as we walked along. There where large buildings and parks. Human plastered the area and I knew that would be great. Meant out smell of being rouge should be masked here. “Mommy there is a school.” Patric said happily pointing at a school. It was close to the forest but I could smell werewolf and knew they would be safe. “Could we enroll today mom.” “We need to find a place to stay first sweetheart.” I told him. He smiled happily as he ran over to us as we began our track through the city. We finally found a shelter that would take us in. We locked our stuff into one of the rooms before we left to find some food and a school to enroll the children in. Well I never knew how snarky wolves can be. Many of the principles stuffed there noses up at us. I don’t know what to tell Patric as he was just to young to understand and I knew Marcus was as well but I think he was understanding. “Mommy it’s just not fare.” Patric whined. My heart broke. I knew this was going to be difficult but I didn’t think it was going to be this difficult. Even though we have Alpha blood running through us we where still rouges. Rouges are wolves without a pack or leader to govern them. It hurt so much to be reminded of the death of my Luna and packs but it hurt to know my children will never get into school. “We will find one sweetheart.” I told him as I placed my hand under his chin and lifted it. He looked at me all upset. “There has to be one that will say yes. Just you wait and see.” “Promise mommy.” He said. I nodded with a smile. He smiled and began to dig into his chicken fingers. I was so happy but I knew one wasn’t. Marcus was looking at me upset I didn’t order anything. I couldn’t, we just didn’t have that kind of money. I haven’t even found a job so the money I did have had to last till I could make more. “I need to go use the rest room please do not move from here.” I told them pointing a finger at them. They nodded as I got up and walked toward the bathroom the tears slipping out before I even got there causing me to run into a man coming out of the men’s room. “I’m so sorry.” “Its all okay.” He spoke gently as he grabbed my shoulder. His hands where holding me gently though firm. “Everything alright?” “Yes, sorry for bumping into you.” I spoke quickly running in to the bathroom. My fear of men touching me and the pain of my children being upset because they can’t get into school was taking its tole as the tears began to flow out. I took a moment to let them before I cleaned myself up. As I did I hear Patric call for me. I quickly gathered myself and ran out to them. They where huddled close on one bench as three men sat on the other side. “Can I help you?” I demanded. Patric and Marcus looked my way and instantly raced to me. Marcus had my purse around his arm. I held them tight to me. “Oh so you’re the mama. Man boys she sure is fine.” One of the men with a beard said. I remained calm, I mean I didn’t have a choice. These where my babies and this was a public space. Not everyone in this dinner was a wolf. “Yes I am. Now would you kindly tell me what it is your looking for that you have frightened my children.” I spoke cautiously. “We where looking for you.” He said placing the toothpick he had been playing with in his mouth. “You see we don’t appreciate outsiders here.” “Is that so.” I spoke stern as I knew I was not the only rouge in this dinner. They where werewolf themselves so I had to be very careful. “Yeah so we will give you to the could of 3 to leave or we tare you apart right here for trespassing.” He spoke standing up. He was definitely large but not as large as my Alpha was. His men and him together would have maybe been as big as him. Don’t get me wrong they where large men. “If you will excuse me my sons would like to finish there food.” I spoke very stern and direct. They looked at me strange before stepping towards me. I quickly grabbed one of his arms and twisted it behind his back using his body to block a shot from another. I used his body that was bent over from the blow to his gut to propel myself up and kick the third in the Jaw and the second on the top of the head. I released the first and gently pushed him. “My sons would like to finish eating.” “Yes ma’am.” The whined as they backed awake. I looked at my boys and pushed them gently to the table where they sat to eat. I slowly took deep breath to calm my beating heart. I don’t know what comes over me but when my boys get threatened or someone I love is in trouble I react strong. When neither one is there I am this weakling that let’s people walk all over me. I have been trying to stop it but it’s not working. A plate was placed in front of me. It was a BLT sandwich with fries and an ice tea. All my favorite stuff. The steam coming off it told me it was fresh. But I didn’t order it and feared this was being put infront of me instead of its rightful owner. “I didn’t order this.” I spoke afraid as I looked up at the waitress. Her warm smile lit up her olive green eyes. She had a few wrinkles here and there with pepper hair. She was much to old to be a waitress. “I know sweat pea. He did for you. Says don’t you worry about it.” The waitress spoke as she pointed out bathroom man causing me to gently blush. Both boys smiled happily when they saw I had food. “Now don’t you let anyone tell you your not welcome here. Everyone is and that is my word. I think you gave them a good enough beating that they will think twice about coming back here to bother anyone.” “Thank you.” I spoke gently so happy to feel someone’s love even if it is a small amount. “Now if you have any trouble you come right back here and Mama Button will help you out. I hate seeing single parents struggling to raise the next generation.” She smiled happily as she hugged me. “Now I am off to make sure them waitresses are doing there job.” “Thank you grandma Button.” Patric spoke even though his mouth was full. I gently scolded him and he apologized causing us bother to chuckle gently. “Mom eat please.” Markus said gently as I watched Mama Button walk away. I smiled as I grabbed the sandwich and took a bite. Man was it amazing. I cant remember the last time I ate something this good. My stomach agreeing with me as I slowly ate. Normally I would go a meal or two a day so the boys had lots to eat. And I mean all they want to do is eat I swear. Some times I would have to split my meal with them. Catching me off guard a little girl came running over. She crawled under the table and popped up on the bench beside Patric but close to the window. I looked over and smiled at her. Her dirty blond hair was strait to her shoulders. She tucked it behind her ears alowing her baby blue eyes to look over at me. She had a smile that forced you to smile with her. “Hi, I’m Esmeralda.” She said happily. “Well hello.” I gently said as I nudge Marcus. She looked to be his age. “I’m Markus and that’s my little brother Patric.” Markus said gently though I think I saw a blush on his cheeks. Oh my little boy has got a crush. It made me smile happily. “Its nice to meet you.” Esmeralda said happily. “I was wondering if you wanted to go to the park. There is a great one just across the way.” “We have to look for a school.” Patric exclaimed. “Don’t worry my school will take you. I bet if we talk to my Alpha he can get you in.” Esmeralda said happily. “That would be great. Mom could we go to the park please.” Markus asked. I smiled at him and nodded. I couldn’t say no to him specially when he says please. He never asked for anything. “We will go but mom needs to finish eating.” “Of course. I’ll go let my daddy know.” She smiled happily as she snuck back out and left. I watched her go but she disappeared quickly. I turned back to my fries and quickly ate as both boys watched me. They had ate there entire plate leaving it just to me. When I finished I was so full I didn’t think I could move but I did. I grabbed my black purse and got up. I gently adjusted my grey sweater before I cleaned up Patric. He had crumbs all over his transformers jacket. Optimus prime with his gang on a dark blue t shirt. I helped him pull his yellow jacket on and sipped it up. Markus had an orange long sleeve on under his black spring jacket. They both wore black Jean’s and runners. Both boys happily smiled as I walked up to the cashier. She smiled happily as I pulled out my wallet but someone cut in with his card. “You will add her bill to mine.” He spoke gently as he smiled at me. His crystal blue eyes held mine for a moment before they where dragged down to his sharp jaw line and muscular neck. Marcus came up beside me and grabbed my arm to comfort me. I was happy as I felt myself shutter a little. I couldn’t tell if this was a bad shutter or good. “Thank you.” I gently spoke gently putting my wallet back into my purse. “Think nothing off it. If those boys eat as much as I did when I was little you got a handful on you.” He chuckled gently as Esmeralda came up beside him. She happily grabbed my hand as I had put my wallet back into my bag. I smiled happily at her. “Come he will pay.” She smiled leading us out. Marcus let me go and grabbed Patric to which was so excited to go. I got them carefully across the street before they raced over to the park. The colors where bright and the space was filled. There where multiple slides and apparatuses to climb or hand off of. Mary-go-round and another that you just hang from as it goes around. Woodchips where the cushion for falling weither on the swings or slides. It was really well set up which made me smile. I have never seen such a set up. I slowly walked and sat on the bench close by. The sun was shining but there was a chill that came up. I shivered gently before a jacket laid across my shoulders. Its warmth helping take the shiver out as a man sat down beside me. His sandy blond hair looked like he had just got out of bed but suited him. It had length on top but short on the sides. He was muscular as his pale skin was so clean. I realising I was staring causing me to blush and look away. I was about to say something but he beat me to it. “No thank you. I have never seen her so happy to meet someone.” He spoke pointing over at Esmeralda happily playing. She had a knee length red fabric jacket on with black leggings and ankle boots. Much like I was wearing other then different styles. Her stuff looked top end where mine was all thrift store. “Since her grandma left she has been so down. She saw you and I have never seen her smile so wide.” “Left?” I asked praying it wasn’t what I thought. “She had to be omitted into the hospital due to cancer.” He spoke a little upset. I nodded wishing I knew his pain. All I have ever felt is the pain of them passing and nothing more. “I’m sorry.” It came out faster then I wish it would. “Don’t worry. We all pray she will make it as it’s good they caught it but she is older.” He said trying to hold his pain. I gently touched his arm and felt sparks under my fingers. It was different that I couldn’t explain it. They didn’t hurt but felt good. He placed his hand on mine increasing the sparks but causing me to panic a little. “What school does Esmeralda go to. She said we could possible get the boys in there.” I spoke gently after a few minutes as he let my hand go. “I can take you over there after they have had there fun in the park.” He said happily as he rose. I passed him his jacket back. “I’m just going to quickly head home and grab a bit bigger car.” “Oh no don’t trouble yourself please.” I told him grabbing his wrist gently as he was about to walk away. “We can just walk.” “Oh no it’s no trouble at all. I’ll be back before you know it.” He smiled placing his other hand on mine reassuring me. “Plus that school is a good distance from her. You wont make it in time.” “Alright.” I smiled gently as I let him go. He waved to Esmeralda whom waved back before he got into his small car and drove off. I took a deep breath and began watching the children. I cant believe how friendly he was. He sat down beside me and I just felt like I could be me. I didn’t have to worry about him hitting me. The children where racing all over everything and laughing like I have never heard them laugh before. Once in there life it sounded like they where really enjoying themselves which made me smile. This was what I wanted for them, for them to feel like children. I never wanted them to feel so grown up though I know that’s what they are. They where only 5 and 10 but sometimes I feel they are already older then that. Maybe this place will give them the childhood I want for them.
