I narrowed my eyes at him. “Wow, so this is how you offer help? Like I’m some poor little stray you picked up on the street?”
Alessio raised a brow, arms crossed. “I offered you a room, not my soul.”
I scoffed. “Alessio, I’ll figure it out for myself. I don’t need your help.”
“Okay,” he said simply.
I blinked. “Okay?”
He nodded once. “Okay.”
I stared at him, waiting for him to say more. Something like “no, stay,” or “it’s too dangerous,” or even a growl. But no, he just turned like it didn’t matter.
