CHAPTER FIVE : THE DEVIL'S TRAP
ELENA'S POV
….
Everything was blurry , I could barely see .
I felt a sharp pain, a migraine like I have been knocked out , my body hardly movable , every muscle suddenly heavy . I tried to move but even the simplest movement required a lot of strength. I was weak.
The air was filled with dust and enclosed , it was rusty.
I slowly open my eyes .
Everything felt strange and bright ,the single large light In the center, the industrial setting around me with the revealing concrete floors and stacks of wooden crates , I realised where I am..
It is a warehouse.
My breathing caught.
I try to recall everything that happened all I had were simple fragments of what happened
The party...
The study...
After that...
Nothing.
I began to panic .
I took deep breathes and im panting , short of breath , i feel fuzzy and weak,
Something is definitely wrong.
Extremely wrong.
My mouth is dry, my body is weak, and my eyes are barely staying open.
I have been drugged
The realization made me panic.
Whatever was used definitely knocked me out immediately. It erased the moments between leaving the mansion and getting here.
I try to walk around see if I could escape
But the whole warehouse was like an endless maze to me , I could barely even walk right with the drugs . I could hear single droplets of water from a distance , echoing in the big empty warehouse.
No music.
No voices.
No city noise.
Only silence.
The silence is so complete it creeps me out.
I kept searching through the warehouse for a way out asides from the large tall main entrance locked with chains , I looked for clues , anything that could tell me where I was .
Nothing looks familiar.
I keep pressuring myself
Think.
The last thing I remembered was leaving the ballroom.
After that...
Darkness.
The sudden realization settled on me.
I'd been taken.
The truth dawned on me , I failed .
I'd been caught.
I could hear sounds of footsteps echoing in the warehouse.
Slow.
Unhurried.
Confidence.
I could hear response footsteps and adjusting guns.
Smells of cigars filled the room.
He walked in with the same confidence he had at the party , casually resting his hand in the pockets of his tailored site with a cigar in his hand as his gaze was on me.
A cool smile was on his face then he spoke
“Wow you are awake “
I gave no response
He feets from me , watching me like he was trying to figure out the best way to dispose of me .
"I was starting to think you were dead."
"What do you want?" I asked with a frightened tone
He smiled calmly .
"Straight to business."
Silence stretched between us.
Then he smiled again.
"It is quite fun to see you again
I met his eyes without blinking.
"...Jessica."
“Or”
A chill ran through me.
He took another step forward.
"Your name is… Elena “ He spoke my real name calmly, as though he'd known it for years.
For a brief moment, my expression betrayed me.
Only for a moment.
"I was willing to see how long you will keep up with the act," he said.
"I have no idea what you are talking about"
"Really ? “He asked with a soft giggle
"That's quite sad , I planned more harsh methods but I guess we will work with what we have ."
He signaled for his guards to grab me
"Since already know it all then why are you asking"
"It's always better to hear it from the horse's mouth, and I tend to derive pleasure in torturing those that think they know better."
"I still don't know what you mean"
He laughed quietly.
"You walked into my house under a false name."
No response.
“Yoh lied about your name “
I remained silent.
"You asked me questions all evening."
I still kept quiet
"You asked me what I do for work."
He paused.
"You asked about my background and my family"
Another pause.
"You even asked about my father."
He took steps towards me , as he grabbed me by my hair ,
I scream from pain ,
“ I was just being curious: I insisted
He looked at me , then took a few steps away.
"Tell me the truth”
His voice was calm, almost casual.
"Why exactly is your motive for being there?"
"It is a party ."
"Dont joke with me"
"I was invited."
"Why would I believe you?"
"I wouldn't really expect you to."
The smile on his face had completely faded away.
"You lied to me about your name before even saying a word to me, only people who have something to hideline before any introductions because they don't want to be seen."
The calmness in me slowly disappeared as I noticed the irritation in his face.
He had noticed.
Every detail.
"Did you honestly think I wouldn't recognize you?" he asked.
"I had hoped."
"A dangerous thing to rely on."
There was silence .
He walked closer to me, the sounds of his footsteps put terror in me as it echoed through the entire warehouse.
"Immediately I saw you, I recognized you "
He stopped .
"I keep my enemies extremely close."
"I knew who you worked for."
"So I understood why you were interested in me."
"But there is one thing I don't know..."
He leaned in just enough for the question to hang heavily between us.
"...is what you came to find."
I tried to look at him.
"If you know who i am then you should also know that i wont say anything?"
A calm smile was on my face.
"Okay then we will continue this some other time."
He turned to the door then stopped.
"Oh..."
Without turning back he said .
"You have messed with the wrong person and when someone messes with me they bleed.
He continued to walk away
The huge door shut behind him sounds of chains going together echoed, leaving me in the empty space with one scary truth .
I am about to be in big trouble .
