Chapter 22
Kristen's POV:
For the next few hours, Cassius wore me out completely, but overall, we shared an incredibly sweet time together. We found a moment of peace and warmth in each other's arms, as if all the world's troubles had vanished. Finally, I begged Cassius to let me rest, and he relented. I eventually drifted off to sleep in his embrace.
When I woke up, I found myself lying in a car. Outside the window, darkness had fallen.
Seeing me awake, Cassius kissed my forehead gently, then whispered in my ear, "Kristen, it's dangerous around me right now. I might not be able to contact you for a while."
He looked uncomfortable, but after a sigh, he continued, "This also means our relationship can't be public yet. I've told Saia I have a true mate, but she doesn't know it's you. Fo
