VALESKA
“Yes… Are you here?” I replied immediately, my heart shuddered as my eyes remained glued to the screen.
In a few seconds, another text popped up. I almost dropped the phone in sheer excitement as I stared back at the words.
“Get up to the VIP wing, third floor, Room 303. Right now.”
A small whimper of relief escaped my lips. I smoothed a stray lock of damp hair from Naya's forehead.
"Your daddy's here, love. He finally came. He finally came to see you." I whispered into her skin, my eyes stung with tears of gratitude.
"I'll be right back with your father," I made a silent promise before adjusting the quilt properly on her sleeping figure and slipped out into the corridor.
I practically sprinted toward the private elevators; my worn-out sneakers squeaked loudly against the polished floor.
The VIP wing was a different world, completely detached from the chaos of the common section.
When I reached room 303, I didn't even think to knock and excitedly threw the door open.
“Garrick, thank Goddess you're here! The doctors said…” My breathless words tumbled from my lips, but they froze in mid-air when my eyes landed on the room.
In the center of the spacious room was a luxurious bed, where my mate sat, and sitting on his lap was Lilith.
His strong arms were wrapped tightly around her waist.
Her head was thrown back, the thin straps of her blouse had slid down her shoulders, exposing her breasts, and Garrick's mouth was latched onto her n*****s.
“A-Alpha…” Her whimpers trembled against the air.
“Shh, my love, I've got you.” Garrick whispered, kissing up to her neck.
His voice was exceptionally tender—a tone I hadn't heard in the six years of our mateship, not even for his own daughter.
He pressed a lingering kiss to her neck while she whimpered softly, burying her face deeper into the crook of his neck.
“You're going to be perfectly fine, I promise. I won't let anything happen to you, love.”
I stood frozen near the entrance. My knuckles turned white as I gripped the door handle.
The contrast between the cold, distant monster who had ignored all my pleas to save his own flesh and blood, and the doting, deeply affectionate man, was too much for my heart to bear.
Suddenly, I felt sick. My stomach churned violently at the scene before me.
Garrick's sharp eyes snapped towards the door.
The moment he noticed me, every ounce of warmth vanished from his eyes, instantly hardening with profound annoyance and utter disgust.
"It took you long enough," he barked. His face twisted with irritation for the disruption.
Lilith gasped, hurriedly pulling up her sleeves, trying to cover her shame. She tried to move away from his lap.
But he didn't let go. Instead, his grip tightened around her waist, pulling her closer to his chest as if shielding her from an eyesore.
"What's wrong with you?" His voice grew colder as he glared at me for making his w***e uncomfortable.
He let his eyes sweep down my frame. His lips curled in distaste.
“Look at you. A pathetic, bloated nuisance. The thought of calling you my mate disgusts me. You're a walking shame.”
His disgust wasn't new. It had lived in his eyes for years.
Even on the nights the Moon forced us into the same bed, he never looked at me as his mate.
Four years ago, the fertility medication changed my body.
But no matter what I looked like, he had already stopped seeing me.
But now my heart ached for our daughter, the little girl who only craved her father's love. Still hoping that her father would come and see her.
"Garrick... What is this?" I took a panicked step into the room, my voice trembling.
"If you're here with her, why did you text me? Your daughter is downstairs in the general ward! She's burning, her fever won't reduce, and the doctors—”
"Quiet, your loud mouth is agitating Lilith." His cold tone cut me off mercilessly and he turned his attention back to the woman on his lap.
He softly brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "I didn't call you up here to listen to your endless whining or your staggering incompetence as a mother.”
“If Naya is sick, it's because you didn't look after her properly. You can't do a single thing right, can you?” Disdain rolled out his tongue like venom.
“You can't keep your weight down, you can't dress like an Alpha's mate, and you can't even care for a toddler without running to me for every little sniffle."
Lilith let out a soft sigh, immediately catching his attention. She shifted against him and looked at me with wide, tear-brimming eyes.
Lilith leaned weakly against him, one hand pressed protectively over her stomach.
"Alpha..." she whispered shakily. "I'm getting dizzy again."
She looked at me with watery eyes.
"The doctor said my blood disorder is getting worse... I'm afraid something will happen to our baby."
Our baby?
The words hung in the air.
My breath hitched as a sudden nausea hit me like a punch in the gut.
I gazed at Garrick in shock. His arms fiercely tightened around her waist.
Leaning against his chest, she gave me a smug, victorious smirk before letting out a small whine again.
I looked at the man I had loved, the man who had promised to protect me, and saw absolutely nothing but cold cruelty.
He was willing to sacrifice our daughter’s survival just to comfort his crying mistress.
The sickening realization crashed over me like a tidal wave, crushing the last remnants of my naive heart.
My mate hadn't just abandoned me, he had left his daughter to start a new family.
“You… You got her pregnant while your daughter was fighting for her breath in a crowded ward… You were out making a baby with her…” My voice was barely a whisper.
My heart went numb.
For six years, all I had wanted was for him to chose us.
In the end... He never would.
“Watch your tone, Valeska,” Garrick growled. His Alpha aura exploded through the room.
The same crushing force that had forced me to my knees countless times before.
"Lilith is carrying my child—a true heir to the Proud Blood Pack. Her condition suddenly worsened. The doctor says she needs blood immediately."
“You happen to share her rare blood type. You’re going to donate your blood to her. Now."
I stared at him. Utterly numb by the sheer audacity of his ruthless demand.
The disgust, the shame, the severe anguish that bubbled within me turned into lava. And before I knew it, the rage burned right through his oppressive Alpha aura.
“I will never!” I hissed. The obedience expected of someone of my rank in the Pack was consumed by the burning fury within me.
“Our daughter is fighting for her life, Garrick! And you... You've dragged me up here to donate your mistress my blood?!"
“Shut up!” Garrick roared. Setting his mistress aside, he stood up.
His eyes were red and wide with disbelief and fury. He never expected me to burst out like that.
The sudden movement made Lilith gasp dramatically, clutching her stomach.
"Oh, Garrick, I... I feel dizzy again..." Lilith whimpered, deliberately leaning heavily against the cushion.
Her face contorted with fake agony.
This wiped away any shred of restraint he had left. He strode across the room, and before I could blink, he grabbed me by the throat and slammed my back against the wall.
Pain shot through my nerves, almost blinding my vision. The sheer pressure of his grip choked my breath.
"Listen to me very carefully, you useless gold digger," His voice vibrated with deadly malice.
"You will walk into that room, and you will give Lilith exactly what she needs. If you refuse,
I'll make sure no doctor ever touches that bastard again.”
“Then I will chain you in the dungeon cell along with your family to rot.”
My eyes widened. My lungs screamed for air. I thrashed, desperately clawing at his arm to release me.
He didn't budge. Instead, he leaned forward. His eyes flashed with murderous intent.
“And then, I'll throw your bastard's worthless body to the rogues and let them feast on her useless meat.”
My eyes widened at his words. My vision darkened as those words swirled around in my head like a chant.
Naya's sad face flashed before my eyes.
All the relentless bullying, starvation and years of physical and mental torment, all crashed down into that single moment.
My veins throbbed. Something deep in my soul shattered.
The overwhelming urge to tear this room apart consumed me. All I ever wanted was Naya's safety, and I'll do whatever it takes to protect her!
Even if it means shedding blood!
‘Blood’ A thousand whispers roared in my head simultaneously.
‘I want blood!’
With a sudden, violent gasp, my body went rigid. The air around me froze like an iceberg.
Before I knew it, my hand had grabbed his wrist...
