Chapter 8: Secrets Are Revealed

Danielle's POV:

"So did you get it? Have you understood everything?" Knight asked hoping, not just him, but everyone that I would understand and get it. I looked at all of them and I can tell they have the same printed look on their faces.

I took a deep breath before turning back to Knight. "Okay, Sky is the alpha, so that means he is the leader. You’re the beta or the second in command. Darylle, on the other hand, is the third while Jaden, Trevor, and Kyle are warriors. But, they are not just any warriors. They are the best warriors.

Moving on, when your eyes change that means your wolf is there but you still have the control. Once you have shifted, your wolf has the control. Plus, you can talk to your wolf and lastly, this is called a pack house" I said, making sure I didn't miss anything.

"Oh yeah, we are called The Black Winter Pack. We are one of the most powerful packs in the world." Darylle said proudly. “Wow, so many.” I said and then I remembered something. “Wait, Pack? So that means, the Silver Cresent Pack is also a wolf?" I asked. All of them were shocked.

"How did you know about the Silver Cresent?" Kyle asked. "They told me, I actually thought it was a weird name for a group but now I understand." I said. "The Silver Cresent is the other strongest pack here in the world. But, don't worry they are not enemies." Sky said.

I smiled and nodded at him. "Now did you get it?" Trevor asked. I stared at them for second trying to recap all the things they told me. "One last question, you told me that you can tell if people are wolves or not right?" I asked making I heard it right and they nodded. "So, am I a wolf?" I asked with full of hope but they all shake their heads and said no at the same time.

"Damn, I wanted to be one." I said with a disappointed tone. Better next time Danielle. They all gave me a weird look, well except for Sky, he has smile on his face. They all turn to Sky and then turn back to me. What was that all about?

"What did you say?" Jaden asked. “I said that I wanted to be one" I answered back as I smile at them. But why are they are still giving this confused look. "Oh come on, I wanted to be one.” I said as I rolled my eyes on them. “I think being a wolf is so cool. You take shift into a wolf; you can talk to your wolf. Plus, your eyes can changes colors. Don't forget that you could also read minds, talk through your mind-links. You also have you super speed, super strength and super hearing powers! Isn’t that cool?!" I said proudly.

“Who have thought explaining it to you wouldn't be so hard" Knight chuckled but at the same time teasing. I rolled my eyes and stick my tongue out.

"If you can read minds then guess what I'm thinking." I said. At first they all looked at each other and looked at Sky. He was about to open his mouth when Knight cut him. "Liam James Payne or One Direction." he smirked.

I heard a growl but I just ignore it and smiled at Knight "How did you know?" I asked even though I knew the answer. "Even though I can't read your mind, I know you always think about your celebrity crush." he said in a duh tone. "Oh” I said, “Wait, you can't read my mind?” I asked with a confused looked. “But I thought you can read minds?”

"We can read minds. It’s just that you are a human and the only person who can read your mind is your mate!" Shine said. "Mate, what’s a Mate?" I asked. Again they all looked at Sky and this time, I notice that Sky's face widens. I can tell that he wanted to explain this whole mate thing.

"Mates is a werewolf's half. They were destined to be together. Once we found our mate, we will be the luckiest and the happiest wolf ever. You just wanted to protect him or her." he said with a smiled on his face. "Just like me and Shine" Knight said looking at Shine.

Shine, on the other hand, blushed as she holds Knight's hand. I stared at them and they looked so in love. A mate means love! A mate is a werewolf’s love.

But, I don't believe in love.

Why? I was abandon by my real parents; they left me in James and May's doorstep soaking wet. So that means they didn't love me at all. Don’t forget about Michael. I used to have a crush on him for a very long time and he uses that advantage. He almost r***d me. That's the reason why I don't trust guys and why I don’t believe in love.

I felt that they are staring at me. I could also tell that tears are started to form in my eyes. "Oh! Look at the time; I must be heading home now. We have classes tomorrow. I'll just go and get my stuff." I said as I stand up. “Lockette, you stay here. It's not safe and I won't allow you." Knight said. "Knight” I whined. "First of all, I don't have any clothes. Second, it’s like what you've said, it's a pack house and I'm not a wolf. Don't worry about me; I'll call you every hour." I said as I went upstairs.

Shine's POV:

We all looked at Danielle as she went upstairs. "Wait, she leaving?" Crypton asked. “Tell her to stay.” He said to Xander. With his tone, I can see that his is hurt and sad. "I already tried talking to her but-“. Xander didn’t get to finish his sentence because Crypton cuts him. “Try harder.”

"I'll talk to her." I said. “Why is she liked that? I mean, when you mention the mate. Mate is about love. I don’t get her." He said as he kept pacing back and forth. He maybe the alpha but right now he is weak and down. “There are things that you wouldn’t understand for now. But, I want you to trust us. Trust me, trust Xander and most especially, trust Danielle.” I said as I hugged him. "I'll try to convince Danielle to stay!" I said, as I let go of Crypton. He nodded as I left.

I found Danielle in Xander's room, fixing her stuff. "Hey, Danielle" I said as I sit on the couch. "Hey Shine! Do you need anything?" she said as she looked at me. "You okay?" I said. She looked at me for a few seconds then went back to fix her stuff. "Of course I am. What makes you say that?" she said. I stood up and sat beside her. "You tell me."

"Like I've said, I'm not a wolf so I don't belong here." She teased. We both laughed at her comment. “I’m sorry about earlier." She said. "It's okay. I know that you don't believe in love.” I answered back. She didn't say anything for about a minute. She just keeps on staring at me. Listen, you don't have to leave. I promise that you are much safer here. You have me, Xander, Darylle, Jaden, Kyle, Trevor, and Crypton" I said.

“True, but I still don't trust Kyle, Trevor, Jaden especially Sky. I’m sorry." she said. "Don't worry, they are all safe and you can definitely trust them. Baby steps" I told her as I rubbed her back She smiled and thank me. "What are friends for". I smiled back.

She became quiet again for about a minute or two. She suddenly looked down on the floor. "Shine!" she called as she faces me. "Hmm" I replied. "Take care of Knight. I love him so much. He is very special to me. He is always there to protect me and I'm thankful that I'm his best friend and at the same time his sister. The way he looked at you, I can tell or maybe it's because your mates, but mates or not, please don't ever hurt him." she said.

We both hugged each other. "I know that. I promise that I will love him and I would take good care of him, just the way you did. And, I would never hurt him." I said, rubbing her back. “Don't worry about Knight; I know that he would never hurt you.” She said as we a parted from each other. I smiled and nodded at her.

“So, are you going to stay?" I asked changing the subject. I also wanted to make sure that she'd change her mind. Danielle smiled and rolled her eyes. Knowing her, she has some conditions. “This morning, I bought you some clothes and some personal amenities." I said.

"What!" she said in disbelief. "So, are you staying?" I asked again. She put her hand up. “If I get my own room." she said smiling. I squealed which made her laugh. "We have lots of room that you could choose.” I said. “Then I’ll stay.” She laughed. “Yahoo! Come on, let’s head down.” I said. As we head down the boys are staring at us.

“She's staying" I screamed which made them happy while the others even shouted "hurray!".

This is one heck of a day!

(Next Morning)

Sky' POV:

I'm glad that Autumn was able to convince Danielle to stay. Seriously, I thought I would be separated from her. Danielle, in the pack house is much better. Even though she’s not on my side, I’m still contented that she’s in the pack house and I get to see her every day.

Knight told me that Danielle doesn’t believe in love and I don't get it. When I asked Xander, he didn't tell me. He just mention that it was not his place to tell. Although, he mention that it has to do something with Danielle’s life. I wished there was a way to help my mate.

I'm also thankful that Xander agreed in helping me so Danielle could accept me. To be honest, I was really jealous of him because he and Danielle are very close. I hope that I can be that close to her. Walking at the school lobby, I can see that everyone has their eyes on my pack. Don't they ever get tired? Can they just mind their own business? And, as for us, we all escorted Autumn to the office so she can get her schedule.

“We only have three classes together." Shine said to Danielle as they both pouted their lips. "I'm going to miss you." Shine said to Danielle, pretending that she is hurt. While Danielle pretends to wipe her tears "I'm gonna miss you too!"

These girls are really something; they get along in almost everything. "You'll see each other at lunch." Xander told them as his puts his arm around Autumn waist. They both glared at Xander which made us laugh.

Autumn, Xander and I are classmates in the whole period while Darylle and Danielle are classmates for the whole period. Kyle, Jaden, and Trevor have the same schedules. But we do have three subjects all together, the first subject, before lunch and we get to see each other at lunch and the last subject.

My thought are interrupted when I familiar voice called my name.

"Sky!" said the voice. We all turn to see Roxie, a human. Roxie has been asking me out ever since I got here. What will Danielle think? I hope she won’t get mad.

"Hey, Roxie" I said, trying not to be rude. She smiled and hold my arm "I was wondering if you-" but Autumn cut her. "Crypton is not going anywhere so I suggest you take your hands off my brother's arm." She said, in an angry tone. "What makes you think that he'll reject me?" Roxie asked, glaring at her. "oh this outta be good" Trevor mind-link us.

Autumn gave her a glared and smirked. "Because he doesn't go out with bitches like you." she said. Roxie gasped in shocked while the rested of us laughed. "So, Bye-Bye I guess." Autumn teased. Roxie left us but we still kept on laughing. "Nice one babe!" Xander said, proudly while Autumn giggled.

"Top that!" She told Danielle. Danielle just smiled but when she about to open her mouth, Darylle cut her. "She already did!" he said, waving his phone. I still can't stop laughing when I watched Danielle's video. Watching her as she drag Gwen down, that is so cool. "You have a feisty mate" Shine said, through mind-link. My sister is right and I'm proud that she is my mate.

"This looks delicious." Darylle said, taking a bite at his sandwich. Danielle is seating beside Darylle. I’ve also notice that she is getting comfortable with Klye, Trevor, and Jaden. I just can't until she starts talking to me.

We are having a great time when someone shouted Danielle's name. The cafeteria was silent when Gwen approaches us. "You liar" Gwen said putting her hands on her hip. I was going too interrupted when Xander stop me. "Why!" I mind- linked him. "Just trust her!" he replied.

I cannot just stand and do nothing. Hello, she is my mate. I need to protect her. "Xander is not your boyfriend!" she burst. Everyone in the cafeteria gasped. "So?” she said with one eye brow up.

“Xander, do you mind telling me what the heck is going on? What does Gwen mean by boyfriend?” I growled.

“I promise that I’ll explain everything later. Just trust her.” Xander mind linked back.

"So? Stop telling lies. I know who you are. "Gwen said. Danielle stand up looking confused. "I overheard you and Darylle talking and let’s just say that I recorded It." she smirked as she waved her phone. "Don't do that!" Danielle said. "You mean this?" Gwen touches the play button and we heard Danielle and Darylle talking.

Darylle: I still can't believe that you don't believe in love!

Danielle: why would I? I mean my parents LEFT me in someone's doorstep soaking wet and plus Michael aka the guy that I have a crush on for a long time use that advantage and almost r**e me. Thank god, I was able to get away.

The recording suddenly stopped. Danielle was now crying afterwards. Poor Mate!

“What the hell was that Xander? What is going on? Why Danielle is crying? I need to do something and I must do it now.” I growled at Xander using our mind link.

“The recording is Lockette’s past. It is also the reason why she is here. It is also the main reason why she didn’t believe in love. But now is not the time to but-in. If you wanna get close to Danielle then trust her on this.” Xander mind link me. As much as I hate it, I can’t do anything.

"I told you this isn't over" Gwen smirked then started to laughed. She kept on laughing and didn’t notice Danielle walk towards her. As soon as Gwen stopped laughing, Danielle took revenge by punching her in the face. Gwen fell down and everyone was shocked.

"Okay, now everyone knows my life. You also know that Knight isn't my boyfriend, wanna know why?” She asked but she didn’t wait for an answer “Because he is more than a boyfriend to me. He treats me like his sister. He was the one who asked me if I can pretend to be his girlfriend so a b***h like you could stop flirting with him." she said.

The room was in silent but I’m pretty sure some wanted to laugh at that comment. Gwen pinched her nose to stop the bleeding. I think Danielle broke her nose. It suits her anyway.

"Listen here and listen well. Try to mess with my life again and I'll make sure your life would be messier than mine!" she glared at Gwen before stepping out of the cafeteria.
