ENZO They were still whispering as food was being served, they must be surprised that this was the first time I would bring a girl for lunch. It was true. I have a lot of rules concerning women or whores; Only mouth f***s. No kissing. Don't take them to Casa Ombra. Don't spend more than a night with them. Never speak with them after. No emotional attachment. I had more rules, but those were the basics. I never broke them and I don't Intend on breaking them. "Is she the one?" Julian asked. I meant to say "uncle" before his name but he doesn't deserve that title. After my parents died, Julian wanted to be the next Don but I didn't give him the chance cause I've always aimed for the position since forever due to personal reasons. Now, Julian hated me but he didn't show it. Remember when I said someone tried to steal my plans for C-4? It was Julian, not Julian himself, his lackeys and unfortunately one of his sons. His son or the lackeys did not want to say the name of who sent them and Julian sacrificed his son to save himself. The poor kid six feet under now was probably wondering why he did what his Father asked him to do. "I don't question you about the whores you take to the Red Door so why are you questioning me?" I stroked my chin, waiting for his reply. He and his wife engaged in a staring contest that lasted a few seconds. "Well, you know the tradition and you are approaching that age so..." He cleared his throat. "Enough talking." I shot him a glare and he understood. Dons have to get married and have a child before the age of thirty-two or they would give up their position for the nearest in line which meant, after Luca, Julian was the nearest in line. Stupid tradition. I was just thirty so I had about two years to not give a f**k about that. I glanced at Daisy, or Mia, as I preferred to call her. She ate slowly, her eyes fixed on her plate. My mind flashed back to an hour ago. Mia, half-naked in cream lace matching bra and pant. The pant clung to her ass, showcasing every curve. Her skin was so smooth and clean, not a drop of dirt or ink on her. I could see the faint outline of her n*****s beneath the lace, teasing me, but it didn't stir any fire within me, no spark, nothing. As expected, nothing has been able to make it hard for years, it was good as dead. Watching some n*****s won't resurrect it. Suddenly, there was a sound of three gunshots fired in the air. Everyone started screaming, scurrying and hid under the table, acting like they'd never for once in their life heard a gunshot or fired one. f*****g laughable. There were only two people who had the balls to ruin a family lunch–Julian and Luca. Since Julian was here, that leaves–Luca. "Hey, brother." Luca approached me with his lackeys behind him. I didn't move, instead, I brought the glass of champagne to my lips to take a sip. "What are you doing on my territory? Do you want me to chop off your legs like I chop off your ring finger?" Luca laughed, maniacally. He brought his left hand, revealing his missing finger. "Thanks to you, I can't get married." He huffed out a laugh and strode around, his fingers toying with a Derringer. "You know, Fratello, if it wasn't for that dumb f**k," He pointed his Derringer to one of his lackeys. "I would have killed you that night and our long feud would have ended but you should thank the heavens." He snorted. I heard his footsteps move closer to me. "I'm here to warn you, brother. If I see you on my territory again, the rumoured bloody war between us will happen very, very soon." He pushed the food in front of me on the ground with his Derringer to show that he meant business but I didn't acknowledge him. How did Luca know I was going to operate that night? I made sure the coast was clear. Someone must have sold me out but I didn't tell anyone except Tommaso. "New w***e?" Luca asked, referring to Mia. I glanced towards her, she had her hands on her ears, her head down and her body was shaking. She was scared. "You are done with what you came here for, now get lost." I said. My hand went under the table to Mia's thigh, in an attempt to calm her down. "She's yours? Wow, for you to bring her for lunch that means she's no ordinary w***e. Interesting, Fratello." He laughed, stepping back. "Bye for now." He said and disappeared from the rooftop with his lackeys trailing behind him. "Are you okay?" I grabbed her hands away from her ears but she was still shaking. So weak for a doctor. What if she was here during the Moranos and Espositos fight? She would have passed out a bunch of times. I still don't understand why I had to get involved with Luca, I wasn't supposed to care about the trafficking ring but I felt the need to. I'm losing myself. I'm turning soft, wanting to become a hero instead of the villain I'm meant to be. I don't deserve to be a hero, and I don't want to be. That's why Mia's with me. The first time I saw her, her purity hit a nerve. It reminded me of someone who died being too pure. She could've fought back if she had unleashed her inner demon. But no, she smiled, even when she was dying. Stupid. Mia, I'll break you, ruin you, until you unleash your inner demon and I will use you to reclaim mine. To be clear, my obsession with Mia isn't love or lust. It's destruction. I want to ruin her.
