DAISY
My body suddenly felt weak. I opened my eyes, but my vision was not clear. I tried again, and it was clearer this time. The room was unfamiliar, with a ceiling so high to the extent that it disappeared into darkness.
The room was big and dimly lit. The walls were gray, and the air felt stale. It was a strange and unsettling space.
This was not my parents' house. I tried to move on the bed I was lying on but noticed out the window that it was night. I groaned. "Where am I?" I asked myself. I glanced around the room, sitting straight.
The only light in the room was the lamp next to me, but it wasn't even bright enough to see where I was. The last thing I recalled was telling my patient, "I'll do anything...as long as he regrets everything he's done to me." Gosh, I'm so stupid. I let what Micheal said get to me.
I tried to recall what happened next and how I got here. After I stopped crying, I apologized and told him not to worry about me, and that I would take care of Michael myself. But he told me there was no going back on my word, he insisted I go with him. There was no way I was leaving with a stranger, so I told him I wasn't going anywhere with him and that he should leave immediately, or I would call the police because he was starting to seem like a kidnapper. Suddenly, he pulled out a white handkerchief and clamped it over my nose. Everything went black. Chloroform, the handkerchief must have had chloroform in it. Oh my blooms, he kidnapped me in broad daylight.
I need to get out of here. My hand moved the blanket on me.
"You need water?" A masculine voice came. I traced the voice with my eyes and noticed a figure sitting in the corner, a huge figure. His face was not clear due to the no bright light in the room but that voice? I recognized it. It was him, my kidnapper. The figure stood up and walked in a direction to light four candles on candlestick holders. Candles? Who uses candles now?
I could see his face now but not clearly, the candles only did little. "You kidnapped me, you know that's a crime right?"
"You need anything?" He asked, ignoring what I said. I scoffed.
"Why did you bring me here?" I tried to stand but the aftermath of the chloroform made my head spin, and I fell back on the bed, catching my breath. He was by my side in an instant, his hand grasping my shoulder to steady me.
"Easy." He said, his deep voice calm.
I brushed his hand off, trying to clear my head. "Where am I?" I demanded.
He stepped back. "You're somewhere safe." He said, his voice low.
I laughed, a bitter sound. "Safe? Do you call this safe? You kidnapped me!"
He shrugged, his expression unreadable. "I did what needed to be done."
I glared at him. "What do you want from me?"
"You told me you want revenge, right? That is why I brought you here."
What? "I made it clear that I didn't mean what I said but you went ahead to kidnap me in broad daylight."
His intense eyes didn't leave mine. He had this ominous thing that surrounded him, he was dangerous, I knew that from his appearance, getting tangled with such a person wouldn't be good for me so I had to leave now.
"You know what? Just—just let me go and I won't say a word to the police about what happened."
"Dinner will be brought to you. Rest." He said and turned to leave. I immediately ran after him, holding his forearm. As he turned to face me, his scary eyes made fear grip me. I quickly released his forearm.
"Please, let me go." I pleaded.
"You should rest, we will talk in the morning." He said and left the room, the candles making his shadow more huge. I heard the door locked from outside after he stepped out. I twisted the handle of the door several times, yelling, "Open the door." But nothing happened.
I fell to my knees. How will I get out of here? My eyes went to the window and I quickly ran towards it. Even if I wanted to escape through the window, I couldn't or rather, I wouldn't survive it, it was too high.
Kidnapping me wasn't even the real deal. I had no idea who that man was, I know he's dangerous but what is he going to do with me is the real question. What he said about helping get revenge is just a bouquet of lies to get me to trust him.
I sat on the floor, my back against the wall. I had to think of a way to escape. But for now, I was trapped. I looked around the room again, searching for anything that could help me. The candles, the lamp, the bed...there was nothing.
I was starting to feel desperate. I had to get out of here before things got worse. I heard footsteps outside the room. The door opened, and food was brought in. I didn't even look at the food. I just wanted to get out of here.
"Please, can you get me out of here?" I asked the young lady who brought the food, but she ignored me and left.
I was so frustrated.
