Third Person POV Thunder boomed as lightning danced through the dark and gloomy night sky. No creature would ever be out in such a storm, except for two. Two figures moved quietly and quickly through the heavy rain. They have blocked out the bitter cold and focused on their main mission. As they reached the doorstep of one of the houses, the taller figure gently squeezed the basket he was carrying close to his body. He whispered sweet words to it before he sets the basket down on the step, making sure it is protected from the wind and rain as much as possible and moved away from it with a heavy heart and tears in his eyes. They pound hard on the door to make sure someone would come to answer it. As soon as they saw a light come on inside, the smaller figure waved her hands and she and the man both disappeared into the night just as the door opened. A woman with golden blonde hair and emerald baby blue eyes opened the door. She looked left and right as if to see who was knocking on her door in the middle of the night. Not seeing anything, she was about to close the door before she heard a small whimper at her feet. She looked down and gasped as she saw the basket. She quickly scooped the basket up and took it inside. “Oh, you poor little thing. Don’t worry, sweetheart. I will take care of you now.” She said, in a kind and loving tone, as she closed the door and went to her kitchen for her to warm up some milk and feed the little one that was left on her doorstep. Maria Mayer POV I was woken up by the sound of pounding on my door. I look at the clock. It was just 5 minutes past midnight. Who on earth would be at our door in the middle of the night? I looked to my side and my mate was not home yet. ‘Roland and Tom must still be meeting with the king about the increase of demon sightings we have been having lately.’ I thought to myself as I got up and wrapped up in a robe. I walked past the room that would have been for our child. I took a deep breath. No matter how many times I tried, I could not keep my baby. I always ended up miscarrying and becoming depressed. I reached the door and opened it. I looked around and saw no one. My wolf, Xena, was just constantly growling in my head. She hasn’t spoken words to me since the last miscarriage. All she did was whimper and growl. Just as I was about to close the door when I heard a tiny whimper coming from below me. I snapped my head down and saw a basket with a beautiful baby girl crying on my doorstep. I quickly picked her up and I felt a sudden connection with her. Xena must have felt it too because she spoke for the first time in so long. ‘This little one is ours. We will protect her with our lives.’ She said, and I instantly agreed with her. “Oh, you poor little thing. Don’t worry, sweetheart. I will take care of you now.” I softly said as I carried her inside where I could get her fed and warmed up. I looked at the amulet around her neck. I could feel something off of it and guessed it was enchanted. Turning it over, I saw that a name was carved on the back along with a date I assumed was her birthday. ‘Serafina’ That must be this child’s name. “What a wonderful name. Serafina. Now, who would leave such a beautiful little girl like you here on a cold night?” I asked the baby, knowing she couldn’t respond. “Don’t worry little one. I’m going to take care of you. My little Serafina.” I held her close as I warmed up some milk for her. I was feeding her when the door opened to reveal my mate, Roland, and his brother, Tom, finally returning home. “Maria, dear? Why are you still awake? Huh!?” Roland asked, but was shocked to see the child in my arms. “Where did this baby come from?” he asked. I smiled and told him how I found her on the doorstep. Tom had come into the room as well while I explained. “Xena even stopped growling and whimpering and started speaking again. She and I really want and need to keep this child. Please, Roland?” Roland looked at his brother and then back to me. “I’m not sure Maria. What if this child is not even a wolf? We don’t know what species it is.” I knew that, but I wanted this child. I needed this child and so did Xena. Tom decided to throw his thoughts in on the matter. “I think you should keep her.” he said while looking at his brother. Roland looked shocked at his brother’s thoughts. “Why would you of all people say that, Tom?” Tom just looked at the little girl in my arms and smiled. “Because Buck says that he feels a strong spirit in this little one, and I know if Buck can feel it, so can Kane. Hold out your hand to the little one and see for yourself, bro.” Tom told Roland. Roland sighed, but he still held his hand out to little Serafina. She grasped one of his fingers in her little hand and giggled at Roland. I saw Roland’s eyes turn black. His wolf, Kane, wanted to see her too. Roland smiled and looked back at me. “I guess we have a daughter now.” I was so happy I jumped up and wrapped him and Serafina in a family hug. “What's the little one's name?” Tom asked. I turned the amulet over to show them. “Her name is Serafina. Serafina Mayer. I said with pride.” Third Person POV Later… Once again the same man and woman were in front of another house within a different territory. The man was holding another basket close to his body. His tears mixed with the rain that fell down on him. “Grow up to be big and strong, my little one, and always know how much we love each and every one of you.” He whispered before placing a gentle kiss on the infant’s forehead. Just like the last house, he placed the basket on the doorstep gently and made sure it was protected from the wind and rain. He pounds on the door hard until he sees a light come on and hears thunderous footsteps. The man quickly moves away from the door and the woman teleports them away again, just as the door was opening. A man with a scowl on his face ripped open the door growling and glaring out into the darkness. He growled in frustration as he thought of some punk being dumb enough to come out in the middle of the night, in a storm like this just to piss people off by banging on their door in the middle of the night and waking them up. Then his ears picked up on the soft whimpers coming from the basket that was sitting at his feet. His eyes widened as he looked down at the little thing in front of him. Without another word, he picked up the basket and brought it in from the cold. “Shhh. Little one. I got you.” He cooed in a soft and gentle tone, as he closed the door. Kevin Dixson’s POV I wake up in the middle of the night to my 5 year old son Michael crawling into bed with me and my mate. “What is going on Michael? It’s late.” I say with a groggy voice. “Someone is at the door. I heard a loud banging.” He said, shaking. I got up and threw on some shorts and a T-shirt. My mate, Anna, woke up as well. “Come here, baby boy. Daddy will check it out and we will stay here until it’s safe.” she said to our child as I walked out of the room to the front door. I opened the door but saw nothing. ‘If this was some kind of prank to scare our cub, someone is going to die.’ My tiger, Nightmare, said in my mind. I growled and shook my head a little pissed off. Not only did I get woken up by someone banging on my door in the middle of the night, but now I had to go and comfort my young cub that had gotten scared. Just as I was about to close the door, I heard a soft whimper and looked down. I noticed a basket sitting on my doorstep. A tiny hand popped out of the blanket. I immediately scooped up the little one and began checking it over for any kind of injuries or a note. All I found was an amulet with her name and a date. “Aurora?” I said to myself. I closed the door and gently held the little girl close to me. “Shhh. Little one. I got you.” I cooed and gently started to bounce her up and down. I mind linked my mate to come here. While she was coming, Nightmare spoke up again. ‘We need to keep her. She is special and she belongs to us and our mate now.’ I couldn’t agree more. My mate, my sweet Anna almost died when she gave birth to our son, Michael. The doctors were able to save her, but she was no longer able to have children, but she has always wanted a daughter. When Anna came up beside me and gazed at the child in my arms, she gasped and held out her hands. I passed the little one over to her and the tiny thing grabbed onto one of her fingers with her tiny little hand. Anna let out a little choked sound and I could tell she was already head over heels for this child. “Awww, what a sweet little thing she is. Oh, Kevin can we please keep her?” she asked me. Her eyes were sparkling with unshed tears and filled with hope. I chuckled knowing that I could never resist my mate's wishes. Especially with my tiger, Nightmare, already being whipped over this little one and going into father mode over her I smiled at her. “Of course, we will keep her. She is a blessing from the heavens. Besides, Nightmare is already wrapped around her little fingers.” I said with a little laugh, as my tiger growls at my teasing. then we took the little one into the kitchen. Anna handed the little one back to me as she started to warm up some milk for our new daughter. “Michael, you can come here now. It is all safe, son.” I yell out. I sat down in one of the chairs and rocked the tiny little girl in my arms. Michael came walking out and tried to peek at what I was holding. I chuckled and leaned down a little to show him. “Who is this daddy?” he asked me while looking at the baby. “This is your new little sister Michael. Her name is Aurora. It will be your job as a big brother to look after her and protect her when she grows up. Think you can handle it?” I say everything with a gentle smile and Michael beams with happiness and pride. “Of course, I can. No one will ever hurt my little sister.” he puffs out his chest like he is big and tough. Nightmare and I laugh a bit in my head. Little Aurora has already won over the heart of her new big brother just like the rest of her new family. Anna comes back with the milk. “Thank goodness we still had some of Micheal’s baby bottles laying around.” She says, shaking the bottle and testing the temperature on her wrist. Michael looks up at us. “Can I feed her?” He asks. I look at Anna and she nods. “Alright, son, come here and I will show you how to feed your sister.” I said. I shift Aurora into one arm and pull Michael into my lap. Then I show him how he needs to hold her so he doesn’t drop her or hurt her. Once he was all set to feed her, Anna handed Michael the milk bottle. He gently placed the bottle in her mouth and she started to suck on it. “She is drinking it! She is drinking it!” He sounded so excited about it, bouncing a little bit on my lap. Anna and I couldn’t help but laugh. Anna even took a picture of our cubs sitting on my lap. Once Aurora had finished the bottle, Anna took her from Michael and started to burp her. Once she was fed and burped, Aurora’s eyes were closing. I picked Micheal up and we all headed back to the master bedroom. Anna and I then settled both of our cubs in between us before we fell back asleep. Third Person Pov The next territory was by far the most dangerous. The man worried as he placed the basket down on the doorstep. He quickly banged on the door before the woman teleported them away. The creatures in this land were not always in the best of moods, even when fully awake, so it would be foolish to stick around after just waking one up in the middle of the night. Though what they failed to notice was the figure in the shadows. It zipped right up to the door and snatched the basket before the door opened. The door swung open and the man living there was steaming that someone had woken him up for no reason. He blew out a huff of hot air from his nose before he slammed the door closed. The man that had picked up the basket before the door opened, looked down into the basket. He thought it was something he could sell, but was shocked to find a tiny baby in the basket. He held the child up as it giggled and babbled. It grabbed his fingers with its little hand. “Well aren't you a little cutie?” He said as he looked at the child. He thought about what he should do until something inside him told him to take it to his leader… Liam Colton. A fearsome dragon warrior that took over the thief's gang in the underworld, but secretly was still working for the dragon king as his eyes and ears. The man nervously knocked on his leader’s door as he returned to the hideout, only to be met with an irritated growl. When the door swung open, Liam looked at the man with tired and annoyed eyes. It was bad enough that his dragon had been keeping him awake that night, but now he was being disturbed in the middle of the night by a low member of his gang. “What the hell do you want? Do you know what time it is?!” Liam snarled. “I found this on someone's doorstep.” the man said while handing the baby over to him. Liam looked confused until he took the child in his arms. Then his dragon finally settled down. Without saying another word to the thief, Liam closed the door in his face. Liam’s POV “Man, why are you keeping me awake Titan? There is nothing going on tonight.” I am practically yelling at my dragon. He woke me up in the middle of the night saying something about something important happening tonight. ‘Don’t be using that tone with me Liam. You know I am never wrong about stuff like this. Someone special is coming to us tonight and I know we need to be here.’ Titan says with a growl. “Who in the hell would be coming to us in the middle of the f*****g night?! And in the middle of a storm for that matter.” I growled back, but before Titan could answer my question, there was a knock on my door. I could feel Titan smirking at me already. I growled and rolled my eyes at him as I got up. I yanked open my door and it was just one of my foot thieves. I couldn’t even remember his name. “What the hell do you want? Do you know what time it is?!” I bellowed at him. He cringed lower and held out a basket. “I found this on someone’s doorstep.” he said while holding the basket in his hands out to me. I looked into the basket and saw that it was a baby. A little baby girl. I was confused as to why he was bringing the thing to me until Titan wanted me to hold her, so I did. Titan became smitten with the baby’s presence at once. I slammed the door on him and brought the child into my room. I looked over at her and saw an amulet around her neck. I turned it over and saw a name on it. “Vivien? So your name is Vivien huh little one?” I asked the little thing and all I got was a giggle and a raspberry spitting in my face a bit. ‘Hahaha, a cheeky little one. She is ours to protect, Liam. She is our daughter now.’ Titan said to me. “What?! But I know nothing about babies.” I said back. ‘I don’t care. Ask one of the females for help. This child will stay with us from now on.’ He yelled back. I rolled my eyes and gave in to my dragon’s wishes. He would never be this forceful if he didn’t have a good reason. Any shifter’s animal always has a reason for things. “This child is now my daughter. Her name is Vivien Colton. I will make sure this news is shared with everyone in the gang tomorrow.” I said. That way no one would mess with her, not unless they had a death wish that is. I didn’t have any milk, so I will have to get some tomorrow. I had a coconut in the kitchen, maybe I could give her coconut milk instead for tonight. I cut open the coconut and poured the milk into a small glass. I didn’t have anything for a baby so that meant I didn’t have any bottles. So I looked around the kitchen to see what I could use for tonight until I could send a female to get me what I needed for her. I found a clean rag and dipped it into the milk and let the little one suck on that for a bit. It took forever to feed her all the milk like this, but she was fed and burped. I lay down in bed with her in my arms and sleep came quickly for both of us.
