The world fell away beneath me, and my stomach lurched as we plunged into the darkness. My hand was still in Kieran’s, but the fall was disorienting, the rush of air filling my ears and sending my heart into overdrive. I tried to focus, to summon my powers and stop our descent, but the shock of everything had scrambled my thoughts. “Kieran!” I shouted, the wind ripping the words from my mouth.
