"YOU'RE SURE?" NIGHT perched on the edge of the rooftop, damp curls drooping in front of her eyes as she watched the couple below. She canted her head, exposing her face to the slushy raindrops, so she could better catch the syncopated beat of their hearts, one slightly faster than the other. They kissed again, a last lingering goodbye, and Night's fingers tensed around the handle of the dagger. An ordinary blade, if extraordinarily sharp.
