A PAIR OF EYES GLISTENED in the dark of the warehouse. Catching what little light came in from outside, the orbs turned into two iridescent beetles. As Night waited at the threshold, it sniffed her, as if it were unsure of what to do with this new thing invading its nest. But it was her beast. It would learn to bow before her. Or it would die. Night stepped towards it, holding out a hand to keep the others back, though they seemed disinclined to come in anyway. Cowards. She picked her way over bones and gristle, keeping to the arrow of moonlight let in by the open door. A low growl rose from the creature as it lowered to a crouch that could have been preparation either to kneel or to attack.
